1. (a) For the circuit shown below figure1a calculate I1 , IL and V0 with R1 = 10KΩ,
Rf = 100KΩ, Vi = 1V, RL = 25KΩ. [8+8]

4. (a) Design a low pass filter for a cutoff frequency of 1KHz with a pass band gain
of 2.

5. (a) Explain the operation of a free running astable multivibrator used as square
wave generator.
(b) Derive the expression for its frequency of oscillation.
(c) If the values of components are given as positive feedback resistor R2 =13.92KΩ,
negative feedback register R=100KΩ, capacitor C=0.01µF input resistor at
positive terminal R1 =12KΩ. What is the frequency of oscillation? [6+6+4]
6. (a) Describe any two applications of 555 timer in astable multivibrator mode with
suitable circuit diagrams.
(b) Explain the function of RESET pin in 555 timer IC. [12+4]

7. (a) Explain the basic technique utilized in Digital to Analog conversion using
suitable mathematical expressions.
(b) In an inverted R-2R ladder type Digital to Analog Converter R= 10kΩ VREF
= + 20 volts. Find the current in each 20 kΩ resister and the maximum
current passing into the feedback resistor of the op-amp. [8+8]

output sinusoid of peak value 5V at which the distortion sets in due to the

2. (a) Draw the circuit of a typical instrumentation amplifier. Why do we use two
stage op-amp circuit as an instrumentation amplifier. Explain

3. (a) Design a non-inverting comparator with output levels stabilizes at ±5V and
VT L = 0 and VT H = 2.5V (TL: Lower threshold, TH: upper threshold) as shown

(b) Draw the fundamental log-amp circuit and derive the output voltage expres-

3. (a) Draw the circuit diagram and sketch the input, output waveforms of an astable
multivibrator using op-amp.
(b) Derive the expressions for T1 and T2 of an astable multivibrator. [8+8]
5. (a) With suitable circuit diagram explain the operation of a triangular wave gen-
erator using a comparator and an integrator.
(b) In the above circuit if the integrator components are R1 =120KΩ and C1 =0.01
µFand the feedback resistor in the comparator stage is 6.8KΩ, the input re-
sistor at non inverting terminal is 1.2KΩ, determine
