95% Alcohol
-Highly Flammable -Don’t leave bottle open, or near naked flame.

-Toxic if swallowed -Place lid on bottle if alcohol inside ignites.

-Irritant to eyes, skin and respiratory system. -Cover a fire on the bench with the fire blanket.

-Inform laboratory staff if spill occurs.

Molten Mac Conkeys Agar

-High temperature -wearing of protective clothing such as laboratory coat, closed


shoes and safety glasses.
-Could burn skin
-disposal of contaminated agar in appropriate contaminated waste
container.

-use of wooden peg when moving tube of agar.

-Skin contact, ingestion
-Wearing of personal protective equipment such as laboratory
-Production of aerosols during subculture coat, closed shoes and safety glasses.

-Skin grazes or open wounds needed to be covered by dressings


and protective gloves.

-Aseptic technique always when handling cultures.

-Clear labelling of each culture.

-Disposal in contaminated waste containers.
