Project Reflection
This math project has been an incredible experience for both me and my
group. By working in this project I believe I have received a lot of important skills
and understandings that will help me further in this class. Not to mention in my
future career and life as well.
By going through this project I have now see how relevant most of the
math we learn in class is. I was surprised at how much the linear equations played a
part in the overall scheme of the project. Knowing how to interpret these word
problems into inequalities helped me to visualize what it was going on in the
problem and what to search for. Graphing using inequalities also played a huge part.
I knew about the everyday use of scatter plots and bar graphs, but I didnt realize
how useful inequalities based graphs were too, including the shading part. This
whole process of interpretation, solving, graphing, and summarizing has been a
very educational experience for me.
Along with developing my math skills, this project has also developed my
team work skills. By working with a team I could see how much of this problem I
understood, and the rest of the group helped me with the parts I didnt understand.
We each contributed to help interpret and solve these series of questions and
problems, and we helped each other out in explaining them to one another. I am
very grateful to have had a focused, hard working group who did all they could to
participate in this group project.
Something else I realized while working on this project was just how
important learning, developing, and enhancing these skills will be for me in my
future career. Im working on becoming a mechanical engineer, and that means Ill

be working with a lot of math. Learning to interpret word problems and create
actuate equations out of them will be a major skill that will help me in the designing
and producing of various mechanical components and devices. I am very grateful
for what this project has taught me and I look forward to all of the other math skills I
will receive in the future.
