Evaluation Activity 4
Who would be the audience for your media product?
From the offset we as a group decided that we our target audience would be
between the ages 15-35 the reason behind this was due to the teenage actors
starring in our production that will draw in a younger audience due to their ability
to relate to the characters within the text. We believed that due to the nature of
the genre it is probable that a mature audience will also be attracted to the text.
The BBFC certification for our production is a 15 the reason behind this
certification is the nature of the films content that meet the guidelines of a 15
rated production, for example: strong violence, sexual violence, portrayals of
sexual activity etc.
The following profiles are examples of individuals existing within our target
audience:

Name: Emily Robb

Age: 18
Likes: Hip-hop music, Shopping, Make-up, Romance and
Drama films
Favourite Films: Gone Girl, The Great Gatsby and Think
Like A Man
Emily is within our specified age margin of our target
audience, a female who although we have not specified a
specific target gender we believe that females will be
more likely to watch our production due to the female
protagonist starring in it. The reason I believe that Emily is
likely to watch our production is due to her personal
interests, the dark romance and dramatic nature of our
text could entice her pleasures. I also think she would
enjoy our production because of the similarity in her
favourite film choice, one of which we found inspiration from when creating our
product (Gone Girl). Lastly, I believe as a teenager she will be able to relate and
therefore emotionally connect with the teenage protagonist within our
production.

Name: Kyle Thompson

Elise Thompson
Age: 22
Likes: Grime and Hip Hop music, Video games, Sports
(such as football and basketball), Action and Thriller films
Favourite Films: Deadpool, The Dark Knight Rises and
Shutter Island
Kyle is in fairly the middle range of the target audience
age category as a male we believed that Kyle will be
enticed by the display of thrilling and aggressive action
within the text (especially due to the fact his three
favourite films involve action and two are classified under
the thriller genre). Kyle is British and because the film will
be produced by a British production company there is
hope he will be interested in our production because of this aspect.
Social Groups- Teenagers:
Teenagers often associate themselves with a large social group who follow the
same trends and share the same interests as them, for example all having an
interest in the same genre of film. The main focus for our target audience was
focused on younger people and specifically teenagers we came about
establishing this target audience due to the concept which in reference to the
BBFC created our lower quartile for our age range with a classification of 15.
Teenage groups are often widely culturally diverse especially in the UK due to
being in such a diverse country. With the integration of different races being
reinforced in the school setting.
Personal reviews from our target audience:
Barry Turi: 17 year old Sixth Form Student
As a male I didnt think I would be that interested in a romance film (well to
what I thought was a romance film) but the dark and thrilling aspect of this
production really entertained me I would love to watch a full 90 minute feature
Lisa Marshall: 32 year old social worker
The idea of the film takes a very real and graphic approach towards some of the
true traumas of young relationships I think its important that teens are aware of
this problem possibly affecting people of their age and know where they can
seek help. I thoroughly enjoyed the production and it exposed me to a lot of raw
emotions.
Reece King: 23 year old model
The idea reminded me of that film with Idris Elba (No Good Deed) it was strange
seeing this abuse between teenagers but it made me feel sadder for the girl
because she was so young and innocent.
Shaquille Clarke: 27 year old marketing graduate
I was not expecting such a plot twist like that I thought it was almost a film
about teenage pregnancy at first. The music kept up a frantic atmosphere and
increased the tension until the very last moment.
