OF WATER
AFFECT
MARIGOLD
GROWTH?
QUESTION
How does the type of water
that a marigold is watered
with affect its growth?
ABSTRACT
HYPOTHESIS
If I give the marigolds freshwater
then they will grow more
because marigolds are not
typically found near oceans.
MATERIALS
Take 15 identical pots
Dirt
Water
Salt water
Ruler
Marigold seeds
Somewhere to record the data
PROCEDURE
Grab your 15 pots and place them in an
area that gets lots of sunlight.
Fill the pots with dirt of the way.
Put the marigold seeds in the center of
the pot and conceal it within the dirt.
Organize the pots into rows
Water the first five marigolds with
freshwater
Leave the middle row without water
Water the last five marigolds with
saltwater
VARIABLES
My independent variable was the type of
water that I would be giving the marigold.
My control variables will be the Marigold
without any water, the temperature, the
location, type of plant and the dirt.
My dependent variable will be the height of
the marigolds.
SAFETY CONCERNS
Dont drink the saltwater and you should
be fine.

CONCLUSION
My hypothesis was supported because the
marigolds that were watered with the
freshwater grew the most. I also noticed
after the fourteenth trial the saltwater
marigold began to die, probably because
of the sodium dehydrating the marigold.
