Week 12
This week Ben and Ethan were are classroom Super Heros!
They were out of this world amazing leaders! Thank you boys!
This week we had a lot of silly fun! We celebrated World

Unique Talent Day! Thank you to all of you parents who
assisted your child in coming up with something fun to show
the rest of the class. We thoroughly enjoyed seeing what
each child could do! Way to go cubs! We saw everything from
curling tongues, to cartwheels, to vocal solos and harmonica
mania!!!! Loved every minute of it and it was nice to see each
child hold the spot light for just a few seconds!
Roots of Empathy: This week we are beginning our Roots of
Empathy program. Every few weeks we will have a visit from
our classroom baby Evelyn! She will visit us and our students
will learn so much from her. There is always a pre-visit lesson,
where Mrs. Williams will discuss a specific topic related to the
upcoming baby visit, this weeks topic was Meeting Baby. When
the actual visit happens, students are prepared with some
knowledge to help guide their questions and allow for
educated conversation. This truly is a wonderful program and
we are lucky to have Mrs. Williams organize it all! For more

Language: This week we learned about the letters Ff and Bb.
We also completed a Writers Workshop, where students were
encouraged to complete the following sentence accompanied
with a picture: Im so talented because I can. We can see
progression for many students in their print. Several students
have caught the phonetic bug and will attempt printing even
during a free activity time. You can imagine how happy this
makes us! There are still many of our friends who can use
some extra practice at home. Before print can flow freely
children must first learn to identify all letters of the
alphabet along with their sounds. Without the sound-letter
recognition and identification, print is very difficult. Keep up
the good work at home moms and dads!!!
We are also wrapping up our Nursery Rhyme Unit this week.
On Friday we organized a Mother Goose Olympics. The
children were engaged in games such as Hey Diddle Diddle
Spoon/egg Race, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star grab, Jack Be

Nimble Candle Hurdles, Humpty Dumpty Puzzle and finally
Mary Had a Little Lamb keep up! Our Olympians were strong,
fast and very good sportsman!
Gym/Health : On Wednesday the children enjoyed What Time
is it Mr. Wolf as well as Octopus! During Fridays gym period
we ran our Nursery Rhyme Olympics.
Art/Music: This week students drew a picture of their special
talent. There was no formal art this week. We did another
Camp Fire in our room on Friday. The children love to sing out
loud and do various actions to the songs!
Math: This week we played with numbers two and three. We
curved to the bottom, and a line you do, because that's how
you make the number 2! Mid week, we we learned that if you
go around a tree and around a tree, that's how you make the
number 3. We are continuing to look at place value (tens and
ones) by counting our days of school. We have five bundles of
ten in our "10's container" and seven ones in our "1's
container!" You can support our number investigations by
hunting for numbers on public signs and around your home, or
using our little poems that help your child remember the
formation of numbers (straight line down and then you're
done, curve to the bottom and a line you do...).
Science:With the SMART Board, we packed healthy lunches,
including healthy choices from each of the four food groups,
and even a "sometimes food" for last snack. Power to Play gave
us another super food mission: to identify healthy choices
from the four food groups at home. For more information

Religion:We worked on The Sign of the Cross this week with a
focus on using our right hand. Also, in preparation for Advent
we learned the song "Light a Candle," which is glued to the
bottom of our Advent Wreaths. Our Advent Wreaths were
made with our big buddies, to help us prepare for Christmas.
Now for the next four weeks, we all can light a candle for
peace, love, hope and joy in our home!
