Part 1
Choose a Canadian poet from the list below. The poets can be researched at the following site
http://www.collectionscanada.ca/canvers/index-e.html.
Choose a poem written by the poet.
You will have to hand in a complete analysis of the poem chosen, along with a copy of the poem.
The analysis must be at least 2 pages in length (not including the title page), type written, clear and
concise. (Please refer to example done in class).
Reminder: your analysis must include your personal reflection/take on the poem (150 words
minimum), all imagery you find within the poem as well as all figures of speech (similes,
metaphors, personifications, alliteration, hyperbole, etc).
Part 2
You will present the poem and analysis orally to the class.
You must recite (not read) the poem, and you must explain the poetic elements found within the
work.
You must include visual elements in your presentation (handouts, overhead transparency,
poster, pictures, Corel Presentation, etc).
The oral presentation should be no shorter than 3 minutes, no longer than 10 minutes in length.
