The following is a free pattern for you provided by us at Mary Maxim.

Aran Pullover
Sizes 4, 6, 8, 10, 32-34, 36-38, 40-42, 44-46
Materials:
Of Mary Maxim Starlette Aran Irish Twist Knitting Worsted Weight Yarn,
100 gm skein (190 yds) allow:
Sizes 4, 6 requires 6 Skeins
Sizes 8, 10 requires 7 Skeins
Sizes 32-38 requires 9 Skeins
Size 40-42 requires 10 Skeins
Size 44-46 requires 11 Skeins
American: One pair each American Gauge Knitting Needles size 5 and
size 7.
Canadian: One pair each Canadian Gauge Knitting Needles size 9 and
size 7.

Free Pattern

Metric: One pair each Metric Gauge Knitting Needles size 3.75 and size
4.50.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE
Gauge or Tension: 19 sts and 25 rows to 4 inches [10 cm] measured over
Stockinette stitch using suggested larger needles or any size which will
give the correct stitch gauge or tension.
Abbreviations: K, knit; p, purl; sts, stitches; rep, repeat; rem, remain or
remaining; inc, increase; dec, decrease; beg, begin or beginning; sl, slip;
psso, pass slipped stitch over knit stitch; tog, together; cm, centimeters.
Additional Abbreviations: C4B, Cable 4 Back: Slip next 2 sts onto a
cable needle and leave at back of work, k 2, then k 2 from cable needle.
C4F, Cable 4 Front: Slip next 2 sts onto a cable needle and leave at front
of work, k 2, then k 2 from cable needle.
Cr3R, Cross 3 Right: Slip next st onto a cable needle and leave at back of
work, k 2, then p 1 from cable needle.
Cr3L, Cross 3 Left: Slip next 2 sts onto a cable needle and leave at front
of work, p 1, then k 2 from cable needle.
C4BPK, Cable 4 Back-Purl-Knit: Slip next 2 sts onto a cable needle and
leave at back of work, k 2, then p1, k 1 from cable needle.
C4FKP, Cable 4 Front-Knit-Purl: Slip next 2 sts onto a cable needle and
leave at front of work, k 1, p 1, then k 2 from cable needle.

Measurements:
Finished Chest Measurement: 28(30, 34, 36) inches [71(76, 86.5, 91.5)cm]
Length from Back Neck: 16 1/2(18, 19 1/4, 21 1/4) inches [42(46, 49,
51.5)cm]
Sleeve Seam: 10 1/2(12, 13 1/2, 15) inches [26.5(30.5, 34.5, 38) cm]
Back: Using smaller needles, cast on 57(63, 69, 77) sts.
Row 1: (Right side) K 1, *p 1, k 1; rep from * to end.
Row 2: P 1, *k 1, p 1; rep from * to end.
Rep these 2 rows for 2 inches [5 cm], ending after a row 2 and inc 14(14,
32, 28) sts evenly spaced across last rib row-71(77, 101, 105) sts.
Change to larger needles and work in pattern as follows:
Row 1 (Right Side): K 0(1, 0, 0), [p 1, k 1] 10(11, 5, 6) times, [C4B, k 2,
work row 1 of panel pattern] 1(1, 3, 3) times, C4B, k 2, [k 1, p 1] 10(11, 5,
6) times, k 0(1, 0, 0).
Row 2: K the k sts and p the p sts as they appear.
Row 3: P 0(1, 0, 0), [k 1, p 1] 10(11, 5, 6) times, [k 2, C4F, work 3rd row of
panel pattern] 1(1, 3, 3) times, k 2, C4F, [p 1, k 1] 10(11, 5, 6) times, p 0(1,
0, 0).
Row 4: Same as row 2.
These 4 rows form pattern.
Continue in pattern as set, work rows of panel pattern in order until work
measures 9 1/2(10 1/2, 11 1/2, 12 1/2) inches 24(26.5, 29.5, 31.5)cm] from
beg, ending after a wrong side row.
To Shape Raglan Armholes: Keeping continuity of pattern, cast off 3 sts
at beg of next 2 rows.
Row 3: K 2, sl 1 knitwise, k 1, psso, work in pattern to last 4 sts, k 2 tog, k
2.
Row 4: P 3, pattern to last 3 sts, p 3.
Sizes 4 and 6 only: Row 5: K 3, pattern to last 3 sts, k 3.
Row 6: P 3, pattern to last 3 sts, p 3. Rep last 4 rows 3(1) times more57(67) sts.
All Sizes: Rep Rows 3 and 4 until you have 31(31, 65, 63) sts rem, ending
after a wrong side row.
Sizes 8 and 10 only: Next Row: K 2, sl 1 knitwise, k 2 tog, psso, pattern
to last 5 sts, k 3 tog, k 2.

Free Pattern

Next Row: P 3, pattern to last 3 sts, p 3. Rep last 2 rows until you have
33(35) sts, ending after a wrong side row.
Cast off for all sizes.
Front: Work as for back until you have 45(47, 65, 65) sts rem in raglan
shaping, ending after a wrong side row.
Sizes 4 and 6 only: Neck Shaping: Next Row: K 2, sl 1 knitwise, k 1,
psso, pattern 11(12) sts, turn. Neck edge. Leave rem sts on a spare
needle.
Size 8 only: Neck Shaping: Next Row: K 2, slip 1 knitwise, k 2 tog, psso,
pattern across 19 sts, turn. Neck edge. Leave rem sts on a spare needle.
Size 10: Neck Shaping: Next Row: K 2, slip 1 knitwise, k 1, psso, pattern
across 20 sts, turn. Neck edge. Leave rem sts on a spare needle.
Next Row: Work 2 tog, pattern to last 3 sts, p 3.
Next Row: K 2, slip 1 knitwise, k 2 tog, psso, pattern to last 2 sts, work 2
tog-19 sts.
All Sizes: Dec one st at neck edge on each of next 5(5, 5, 4) rows and at
the same time, dec at raglan edge as before until you have 3 sts rem.
Work 1 row even, thus ending after a wrong side row.
Next Row: Slip 1 knitwise, k 2 tog, psso. Break yarn and fasten off.
Sizes 4 and 6 only: With right side facing, join yarn to rem sts, cast off
next 15 sts, work in pattern to last 4 sts, k 2 tog, k 2-14(15) sts.
Size 8 only: With right side facing, join yarn to rem sts. Cast off 17 sts,
work in pattern to last 5 sts, k 3 tog, k 2-22 sts.
Size 10 only: With right side facing, join yarn to rem sts, cast off 17 sts,
work in pattern to last 4 sts, k 2 tog, k 2-23 sts.
Next Row: P 3, work in pattern to last 2 sts, work 2 tog.
Next Row: Work 2 tog, work in pattern to last 5 sts, k 3 tog, k 2-19 sts.
All Sizes: Dec one st at neck edge on next 5(5, 5, 4) rows and at the
same time, at raglan edge as before until you have 3 sts rem. Work 1 row
even, thus ending after a wrong side row.
Next Row: K 3 tog. Break yarn and fasten off.
Sleeves: Using smaller needles, cast on 37(39, 39, 41) sts and work in
ribbing as for back, ending after a row 2 and inc 14(14, 14, 16) sts evenly
spaced across last rib row-51(53, 53, 57) sts. Change to larger needles
and work in pattern as follows:
Row 1: (Right side): K 0(1, 1, 1) sts, [p 1, k 1] 5(5, 5, 6) times, C4B, k 2,
work row 1 of panel pattern, C4B, k 2, [k 1, p 1] 5(5, 5, 6) times, k 0(1, 1,
1).
Row 2: Knit all k sts and purl all p sts as they appear.
Row 3: P 0(1, 1, 1), [k 1, p 1] 5(5, 5, 6) times, k 2, C4F, work Row 3 of
panel pattern, k 2, C4F, [p 1, k 1] 5(5, 5, 6) times, p 0(1, 1, 1).

Row 4: Same as row 2.


These 4 rows form pattern. Panel pattern is now in position. Continue in
pattern working rows of panel pattern in order and inc 1 st at each of row
on next and following 10th(10th, 8th, 10th) row until you have 61(65, 69,
73) sts on needle, taking inc sts into pattern as they become available.
Continue in pattern as set until work measures 10 1/2(12, 13 1/2, 15)
inches [26.5(30.5, 34.5, 38) cm] from beg, ending after a wrong side row.
Raglan Shaping: Keeping continuity of pattern, cast off 3 sts at beg of next
2 rows.
Next Row: K 2, slip 1 knitwise, k 1, psso, pattern to last 4 sts, k 2 tog, k 2.
Next Row: P 3, pattern to last 3 sts, p 3. Rep last 2 rows until you have
19(23, 27, 25) sts rem, ending after a wrong side row.
Next Row: K 2, slip 1 knitwise, k 2 tog, psso, pattern to last 5 sts, k 3 tog, k
2.
Next Row: P 3, pattern to last 3 sts, p 3. Rep the last 2 rows until you have
7(7, 7, 9) sts, ending after a wrong side row. Cast off rem sts.
Sew raglan seams, leaving left back raglan seam open.
Neckband: With right side facing and using smaller needles, pick up and k
5 sts across left sleeve, 14(16, 16, 16) sts down left neck front edge, 12(12,
12, 14) sts across center front neck, 14(16, 16, 16) sts up right front neck
edge, 5 sts across right sleeve and 23(23, 25, 27) sts across back neck
edge-73(77, 79, 83) sts. Beg with a row 2 of ribbing as for back, work 2
inches [5 cm] in ribbing. Cast off loosely ribwise.
To Complete: Sew left back raglan and neckband seam. Sew side and
sleeve seams. Fold neckband in half to inside and stitch loosely in position
along bottom of neckband.
Aran Pullover
Sizes 32-34, 36-38, 40-42, 44-46
Measurements:
Finished Chest Measurement: 41 1/2(48, 52, 56) inches [105.5(122, 132,

Length from Back Neck: 25 1/4(27 1/2, 28 1/2, 29) inches [64(70, 72.5,
73.5)cm]
Sleeve Seam: 17(18, 18 1/2, 19) inches [43(46, 47, 48)cm]
Back: Using smaller needles, cast on 83(95, 105, 113) sts.
Row 1: (Right side) K 1, *p 1, k 1; rep from * to end.
Row 2: P 1, *k 1, p 1; rep from * to end.
Rep these 2 rows for 3 inches [7.5 cm], ending after a row 2 and inc 52(54,

Change to larger needles and work in pattern as follows:
Row 1: (Right Side): K 0(1, 1, 1), [p 1, k 1] 1(4, 6, 9) times, [C4B, k 2, work
row 1 of panel pattern] 5 times, C4B, k 2, [k 1, p 1 ] 1(4, 6, 9) times, k 0(1,
1, 1).
Row 2: K the k sts and p the p sts as they appear.
Row 3: P 0(1, 1, 1), [k 1, p 1] 1(4, 6, 9) times, [k 2, C4F, work 3rd row of
panel pattern] 5 times, k 2, C4F, [p 1, k 1] 1(4, 6, 9) times, p 0(1, 1, 1).
Row 4: Same as row 2.
These 4 rows form pattern. Panel pattern is now in position.
Continue in pattern, working panel pattern in order until work measures
15(16, 16, 16 1/2) inches [38(40.5, 40.5, 42)cm] from beg, ending after a
wrong side row.
To Shape Raglan Armholes: Keeping continuity of pattern, cast off 3 sts
at beg of next 2 rows.
Row 3: K 2, sl 1 knitwise, k 1, psso, work in pattern to last 4 sts, k 2 tog, k
2.
Row 4: P 3, pattern to last 3 sts, p 3.
Rep rows 3 and 4 until you have 93(103, 103, 125) sts rem, ending after a
wrong side row.
Next Row: K 2, slip 1 knitwise, k 2 tog, psso, pattern to last 5 sts, k 3 tog, k
2.
Next Row: P 3, pattern to last 3 sts, p 3.
Rep last 2 rows until you have 41(43, 47, 49) sts rem, ending after a wrong
side row. Cast off.
Front: Work as for back until you have 77(87, 91, 97) sts rem in raglan
shaping, ending after a wrong side row.
Neck Shaping: Next Row: K 2, sl 1 knitwise, k 2 tog, psso, pattern 23(28,
29, 32) sts, turn. Leave rem sts on a spare needle.
Dec one st at neck edge on each of next 7(8, 9, 10) rows and at the same
time, dec 2 sts as before at raglan edge until you have 3 sts. Work 1 row
even, thus ending after a wrong side row.
Next Row: Slip 1 knitwise, k 2 tog, psso. Break yarn and fasten off.
With right side facing, join yarn to rem sts, cast off 21(21, 23, 23) sts, work
in pattern to last 5 sts, k 3 tog, k 2-26(31, 32, 35) sts.
Dec one st at neck edge on next 7(8, 9, 10) rows and at the same time,
dec 2 as before until you have 3 sts. Work 1 row even, thus ending after a
wrong side row.
Next Row: K 3 tog. Break yarn and fasten off.
Sleeves: Using smaller needles, cast on 45(49, 51, 51) sts and work in

These 4 rows form pattern.
Continue in pattern working rows of panel pattern in order and inc 1 st at
each end of next row and following 8th(6th, 6th, 4th) row until you have
83(77, 91, 83) sts on needle, taking inc sts into pattern as they become
available.
Sizes 36-38, 40-42, 44-46 only: Inc one st at each end of the following
(8th, 8th, 6th) rows until you have (91, 97, 103) sts, taking inc sts into
pattern as they become available.
All Sizes: Continue in pattern as set until work measures 17(18, 18 1/2,
19) inches [43(46, 47, 48) cm] from beg, ending after a wrong side row.
Raglan Shaping: Keeping continuity of pattern, cast off 3 sts at beg of next
2 rows.
Next Row: K 2, slip 1 knitwise, k 1, psso, pattern to last 4 sts, k 2 tog, k 2.
Next Row: P 3, pattern to last 3 sts, p 3. Rep last 2 rows until you have
21(21, 21, 33) sts, ending after a wrong side row.
Next Row: K 2, slip 1 knitwise, k 2 tog, psso, pattern to last 5 sts, k 3 tog, k
2.
Next Row: P 3, pattern to last 3 sts, p 3. Rep the last 2 rows until you have
9 sts rem, ending after a wrong side row. Cast off rem sts.
Sew raglan seams, leaving left back raglan seam open.
Neckband: With right side facing and using smaller needles, pick up and k
7 sts across left sleeve, 18(22, 22, 24) sts down left front neck front edge,
14(16, 16, 16) sts across center front neck, 18(22, 22, 24) sts up right front
neck edge, 7 sts across right sleeve and 31(33, 35, 37) sts across back
neck edge-95(107, 109, 115) sts. Beg with a row 2 of ribbing as for back,
work 3 inches [7.5 cm] in ribbing.
Cast off loosely ribwise.
To Complete: Sew left back raglan and neckband seam. Sew side and
sleeve seams. Fold neckband in half to inside and stitch loosely in position
