stores, inns, or as artisans. In the North, they had more
opportunity to improve their lives.

Some had experience growing valuable crops like rice.


Some were also expert carpenters, blacksmiths, or
tailors. They worked all day and sometimes night at
these plantations.

This was an armed rebellion where a group of enslaved


people fought with slave owners near the Stono River in
South Carolina. 25 white colonists were killed.

Ships began in England, they carried guns and other


good to W. Africa and they traded these goods for gold
and captive slaves. Then to the W. Indies where they
traded slaves and gold for sugar. Then this would be
carried to the colonial ports.

different religions settled throughout the colonies.
