It is my pleasure to write this letter in support of Amy Kolb obtaining a

teaching position. Amy has successfully completed twelve weeks of studentteaching in my classroom. I am excited to hear about the many students she
will positively affect in the future.

Amy possesses many strengths that will enable her to be a successful

teacher. Amy chose our school because our classrooms are difficult and
demanding. She understood that our classrooms offered the opportunity for
maximum growth. Throughout her experience, Amy developed positive
relationships with her students and has collaborated with other teachers to
improve her practice. As a result, Amy has experienced exponential growth
in her teaching abilities.
Teaching in a middle school requires a wide variety of teaching skills. From
the beginning, Amy saw the importance of community building and cultural
relevance to promote engagementa must in any school. While guided by
the state core to develop her students language levels, she adapted lessons
to ensure engagement. Amy created a lesson to teach her students about
the Spanish-speaking countries around the world. She paired maps with
photos of famous singers, dancers, and actors from the Spanish-speaking
world. The students were engaged and eager to learn where each person
was from. The lesson was fun, interesting, and culturally relevant. She was
able to teach grammar, how to say where you and other people are from,
and bring closer the diverse world around them.
Another essential skill in becoming an effective teacher is reflection and
introspection. Amy reflected daily about lessons and student interactions
with the aim to be the most effective teacher for her students. Her personal
commitment to introspection and life-long learning will ensure that she will
be an influential and effective teacher. I have no doubt that Amy will be
revered by her students and the communities that will be fortunate to
benefit from her qualities as a teacher and a person.
If you have any questions about my recommendation for Amy Kolb to obtain
a teaching position, please contact me. Otherwise, I look forward to hearing
about the many successes that Amy will enjoy in her future.
Respectfully,
Javier Viana
