This study examined the spending and saving habits of youth in Indore, India. It found that peer influence has a huge impact on purchase decisions for those under 19 years old, but this decreases with age as people rely more on evaluating product features themselves. Spending habits also differed between genders. The study aimed to compare spending in metro versus tier 2 cities, how newly employed youth change habits, and gender differences in saving. A limitation was that many youth did not believe in saving and preferred spending on entertainment, gadgets, eating out and grooming.
