Sewing Room (and life) Update, 12/6/24

It has been nearly three months since my last post, long enough that I've had a couple of friends check in on me to see if I'm alright (and thanks for that, by the way).

Everything is fine. I have been sewing up a storm and for some reason I couldn't make myself sit down to document anything. So this might be a little long. I've been working on my Glow quilt while binge watching TV.

We went to a special family wedding in Oregon for Sam and Stacie.

This is true. Our son and daughter-in-law love hiking. But it's not something they got from me.
Halloween came and went. The Dodgers had just won the World Series so there was this...

Also on Halloween, our grandson broke a school water polo record for most blocks in a season.
Family and friends were there to cheer him on.
It rained one day and we got this amazing double rainbow.

I finished a few more quilts (I'll gradually start posting about each one).

I finished a very fun holiday sampler just for me. I'm not sure it will get quilted before Christmas but I had the best time making it.

We went to Los Angeles for two concerts.

The first one was with the Loyola Lawyers Orchestra where our friend, Timothy, is the concert master.

The next day we went to the Last Book Store, a place I've always wanted to visit--a very quirky bookstore.

That night we went to the senior recital of Daniel, son of very good friends. He was amazing. He is graduating with a degree in music composition and he will definitely be making a name for himself!
Haha...

For you word nerds...
I had friends over for a Christmas coffee. We had so much fun chatting about quilts and life that four hours passed quickly.

I did some reading.

And finally, I picked up the quilt calendar for 2025, Road Trip. I think it might be the best one yet.

That's pretty much it in a nutshell.

Sewing Room Update, 9/22/24

I feel like not much has been happening in my sewing room.

I have finished the "True" colorway of Echinacea Elegance. I had just a small piece of Bohemian (from my friend Terri) and it was fun to add it to this block.

This is the first block of the Maraschino colorway, with a little bit of original Flea Market Fancy. I'm anjoying adding some precious fabrics I've been stashing for a long time.

I picked up two quilts from Darby. I told her to choose the quilting designs for each and I'm really happy with them.

I posted photos of quilts taken on the road trip (I'll probably do a couple of separate posts with more photos of each). These may or may not turn into a calendar for 2025.

I'm working (very slowly, it seems) on this quilt. I think it will be striking when it's done, but one thing it confirmed is that I don't enjoy repetitive sewing. While I think two-color quilts are beautiful, I don't actually enjoy making them.

Janice and I were able to meet up with Karen (@capitolaquilter) and her friend, Pat, to have coffee last week. They were in Fresno for a class on long-arm quilting. It wasn't nearly long enough to chat, but I'm glad we had some time with them.
Time to get busy in the sewing room...
