Today I'm excited to kick off a blog tour to celebrate Amanda Jean Nyberg's crazymomquilts new book, No Scrap Left Behind!

I'm excited and honored that she asked me to join me in a celebration of SCRAPS! It's no secret that Amanda finds great enjoyment in transforming scraps into beautiful and useful finished objects. She really is trying to inspire me to actually use my scraps.

Amanda asked us to share our scrap sorting/storing methods OR our favorite tips/tricks when it comes scraps. Here is as far as I got on the first day.....all the scraps in one place:

Two of my grandchildren, 4 1/2 year old Vince and 7 year old Audrey thought it looked like a great place to hang out. I will continue on the scrap sorting another day.

Here are the projects I made using patterns from Amanda's book No Scrap Left Behind:

Skinny Pinnies

Meadow Storm

Meadow Storm Quilt

I was lucky enough to get a fatquarter bundle of Meadow Storm designed by my friend Victoria of Victoria Findlay Wolfe Quilts for Marcus Brothers Fabric.

I found the perfect pattern to show off all the beautiful colors in the line. It is called Diamond Patch by Valley Creations.

I chose the twin size and it required 46 nine-patches using 2 1/2 inch squares.

I used my favorite background fabric from the Meadow Story line, Meadow Storm Misty White. You can find it by clicking on the name. It's going to be great to have the extra I bought around for more projects.

The quilt measures 60" X 90". I have not had a chance to quilt it yet, but have a few ideas in mind.

St. Louis Sixteen Patch

I committed to making this quilt last year - a St. Louis Sixteen Patch using all original Katie Jump Rope fabric line by Denise Schmidt. This fabric line came out six years ago and I collected all the prints when I could no longer find a bundle of the entire line.

This quilt is 108" by 108" and was quilted by the fabulous Steffani Burton. I chose a wool batting for this quilt and love how the quilting makes a wonderful texture.

I really like this new look for our bed.

Twister Jack

I finished Twister Jack with days to spare!

He is 14" X 15" with each block finishing at ONE INCH SQUARE. So fun to make and now so fun to display every Haloween.

I finished my bee blocks for Anne of the Mid-Century Modern be. I can't wait to see what her idea is with these.

I also finished Stephanie's bee block for the Sew Sister's Bee:

She has a great idea for each of us to choose a different color and the quilt will be a display of the ends of colored pencils.

I have a helper this weekend. We should have the leaves taken care of in no time!

Halloween sewing

I like to make something new every year for Halloween and this year I got a late start due to some health issues. I want to post my in-process photo to encourage myself to get it finished!

So I started Twister Jack by Need'l Love about a week ago expecting to make the larger size. And even though I have three sizes of the Twister tool, I did not have the correct size.

SO, that meant I had to make the small size which uses the 1 1/2" Itty Bitty Primative Pinwheels tool for finished pinwheels of ONE INCH!

Here is where I'm at - about 1/3 finished. I'll be back when I'm completely finished.

Blogger's Quilt Festival

It's been a very long time since I posted on my blog and maybe the Blogger's Quilt Festival will inspire me to get back to this.

My most recent quilt ended up being one of my all time favorite quilts, maybe because I made it start to finish.

This quilt is a pattern called Ventana by Nydia Kehnle and the fabric is all Michael Miller Cotton Couture. It's hard to tell but the background is a dark chocolate brown.

I quilted this on my Pfaff in horizontal rows every 3/8" using Aurifil 40 wt. thread.

The backing is Anna Maria Horner Field Study Sinister Swarm that I pieced to match the pattern.

The texture turned out amazing.

This quilt is 50" by 59".

I entered this quilt in the Small Quilt category in the Blogger's Quilt Festival if you would like to vote for this quilt. Thank you.
