Quilt Block Mania - January is Sports

Welcome to my stop on the Quilt Block Mania Blog Hop. Each of the designers participating in the hop are sharing a block pattern inspired by this month’s theme, which is Sports.

This is my sixth year participating in QBM, and I hope you’ve enjoyed my free block pattern each month! If you’ve missed any, the patterns for previous months are available in my shop.

I’m not much one for sports, but I’ve always loved ice skating. So when the Sports theme was announced for this month, I knew I had to design a block for my favorite sport.

I made my block in traditional colors, but you can choose your own colors to feature in your skates! Aren’t these pink skates adorable?

I call my block Ice Skates. It uses fusible applique techniques. I hope you’ll make my block and tag me on social media @inquiringquilter!

For the Sparkle theme, I knew I wanted to do a star block. I decided to play with two stars in one to see how that would look.

I think it looks great in a quilt!

I call my block Stellar. It uses regular piecing techniques. I hope you’ll make my block and tag me on social media @inquiringquilter!

When I heard the theme my thought went immediately to a Santa’s Village. I used to collect little houses and put them up each year and I miss that. So my block this month is a way of recapturing that wonder.

I decided to make my block whimsical, similar to my Funky Town block. My thought is that I might design a whole Santa’s Village quilt some day.

I call my block Santa’s Toy Shop. It uses raw-edge fusible applique techniques. I hope you’ll make my block and tag me on social media @inquiringquilter!

It’s starting to feel like fall around here, which means I’m putting up Christmas decorations. 😂 All kidding aside, I’m all about Christmas. So when the Sweets theme was announced my mind immediately went to Christmas sweets, and that means Gingerbread.

My favorite part of making gingerbread cookies is decorating them, so my pattern gives you lots of options for decorating your Gingerbread People.

I call my block Gingerbread People. It uses raw-edge fusible applique techniques. I hope you’ll make my block and tag me on social media @inquiringquilter!
