11/16 update: Finished the challenge today! A few notes on it:
I was leery of read aloud to someone. I've been reading short stories to my husband every weekend. We snuggle in bed and have some time together doing something we both love. We are planning on doing this regularly now, but with him reading some stories too.
My least favorite book was from one of my favorite genres. Very disappointing.
It's hard to pick a favorite book of the challenge. There are a few that are sticking with me. A Thousand Splendid Suns, Parable of the Sower, The Sparrow, Yes, Please. All fantastic.
I still dont like to read plays. I love going to see them though!
Cant wait for next year!

I will post as I finish my challenges. I am off to a good start as I have finished two and am halfway through my third challenge.
1/25/16: Well, I have been very busy reading, but not posting. I am almost halfway through....whew!
2/2/16: One more completed and I am almost through my 500+ novel. This is fun!
2/7/16: Well, family illnesses slowed by finish of a pretty good book, but that one novel brought two challenge checks (Horror and over 500 pages)!
2/16/16: One more done (I have a few library books with holds that I have also needed to finish). Nine more to go!
2/23/16 One more down and I have to say that this one "Read a book set in the Middle East" was not a challenge I was excited about, but I have to say I LOVED Orhan's Inheritance. If you are looking for a book for this challenge I highly recommend this title.
3/28/16: I have been reading quite a bit, just not books on this challenge. I did, however, manage to finish one this week and really enjoyed it. Fever: 1793 is a YA novel about the plague that hit Philadelphia and killed many of its inhabitant. Told through the eyes of a young girl, this is interesting reading for teens and adults alike.
4/5/16: One more done and unfortunately it was my least favorite so far. Fresh Off The Boat, which the TV series is based upon, is about as funny and interesting as the TV show in my opinion, and that is not saying much. Oh well, on to the next challenge!

OK so I've decided to add rules to my personal challenge. I want to read a diverse author for each of the 24 challenges not repeating the same author twice and not using the same book for more than one task. I have spent a good portion of today finding works that interest me for almost all of the challenges leaving a few blank because I had trouble finding things or I will just decide later on the fly.
So here's my current outline:
Read a horror book. The Girl From The Well Rin Chupeco
