American Fairytale (Dreamers, #2)

Cute, teeth-rotting sappy and very…politically correct while tackling a lot of the modern society traits and issues: racism, discrimination, feminism, domestic violence, cultural heritage, poverty, depression. The book is so wholesome you can’t avoid an eye-roll once in a while and the (too) sweet romance doesn’t help (the older MC is an absolute “too good to be true Prince Charming “). It’s well written and if you like this kind of wholesome, “educational” books go for it. I prefer a different approach, more realistic..Oh, and Milo was freaking exhausting and incredibly obnoxious.

i understand the reason for the ‘educational’ books in these fiction stories but sometimes it’s too much. 😭 especially because i studied politics and now i don’t even like the field so i wanna be away from it lol. finding books by poc authors though that don’t tackle some sort of society traits like these is hard. glad you still enjoyed this to an extent! 💜

agree books that try so hard to be too good and educationy are a bit eye rolling for me, I tend to enjoy the really teeth rotting sweet books but there is def a limit into to much politically correc t education
Great review! I'm glad you liked this one, I did too (don't remember much of it and my review is not that detailed...). I remember that this one wasn't my favorite though, the next one was. I've taken a break from this author who mostly writes mf now but may go back eventually. Is it your first book by her?

Elena, I can’t even get mad because for all that “education “ because..well I agree with everything and I think that a world like that would be ideal . But I think I prefer a little more subtle nudge while the author tackled everything in a single book. Even the 4 years old girl was talking about feminism and girl power 🤣 I mean it’s never too early to learn but it didn’t feel realistic.

It was just too much, Jamie. The author crammed all the issues in this book in a very obvious way. As for the romance it was very insta and cheesy indeed.

Yes, Agla, never heard of this author before. The book is enjoyable but I would have preferred a less in your face approach. And less “insta” and sap. I’ll check the blurb of the next one. I would have liked his friend’s Juan Pablo’s story to be MM also. I loved him. But Patrice was interesting too so we’ll see . ❤️❤️

Great honest take Nicole!! ❤️❤️ I think a few years ago , I would have said “YES” to this kinda book, but these days I like a realistic story or a completely paranormal/sci-fy story.. 🤷♀️
haha too sweet and good isn't that enjoyable you're right, Nicole, a bit realism does help the romance - reading experience
