The narration is terrible. Sounded like Google text to speech. I tried and had to quit.
Then I tried again. Quit again.
Tried a third time. But no. This was just terrible narration. TERRIBLE. I'm going to avoid this narrator (P.J. Ochlan) like the plague from here on out.

I'm going to check out the physical book and see how that goes.

Melanie Daves It really is so bad. I'm sorry I forgot to tell you. I must have blocked it out. I avoided listening to it when I could and just physically read it for the most part. I'm sorry for the bad recommendation!

megs_bookrack Booo, sorry to hear that. I was thinking about listening to this through Everand, or whatever it's called now (Scribd)

It's fine! <--you're not to blame
I thought I'd somehow gotten a glitchy download. Then I even checked the narrator and he's DONE OTHER THINGS! Like, what even?! How can you be this terrible and get work?
I even wondered if somehow there was an A.I. angle to the story somehow and he was only pretending to sound like a robot but...
What the actual fuck?!

It's a subscription book service. It's a certain amount a month, I don't even know what the cost is at this point, I signed up so long ago, for unlimited audio/ebooks. There are some parameters. It's sort of set up on a tier, so like brand new releases, as in releasing this week, you can only get one or two of those within a one month period, then just a little older titles will show up as available and so on and so forth, but there's always something, many somethings available. It's like Audible, but way better and more economical...

Anne Ohhhh! Ok, that's something I'll check into. I didn't realize there was another option other than Audible.
Thanks, Meg!

Melly I also did not like the audiobook from the first 30 seconds lol I read the book physically which was such a better experience

Anne Dang! Ok, so this one may have to be a physical read.

Vinaya Wagh I'm curious.. how do you write a review without rating a book? :? Thanks in advance just in case you read this :D

message 10: by Ruhi (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ruhi Hanifa I thought it was only me. The audiobook is terrible, but I have faith in Japanese Mysteries, so ditched the audiobook and switched to ebook.

Dr. Sachin Ketkar The three friends in the mainland are investigating the murders. They know that 7 people have been on the island already. They could have sent a rescue team to bring them back.

Sorry, just saw the comments!
You can do it by just not giving it a star rating and marking it as read, or in my case I put it on my DNF shelf.

Nope, not just you. And the weird thing is that I ran into another book a little while later where the narrator spoke in the SAME way. Blech!

You would think, right?

Laura Hine I had this issue too! How can one sound so smug and yet so robotic?
