I have to be honest and say that this book is not my cup-of-tea. So, consider that when you see the one star rating. I don't like reading a book with what feels like a lump in my throat the whole time. I like a release from the pressure at least every once in awhile. I didn't particularly like Cannie and yet I disliked what happened to her. I ended taking this book to work and putting it in the 'free if you want pile'. Someone I worked with picked it up, read it, and gave it a few more stars than I did; however, not a big 'must read' rating. Jennifer Weiner is a good writer; I just wanted something else. I'm a nurse and I get enough sadness in my life as it is. I have another book by her that I don't think I'll ever read.

Hina I was indecisive about this book to begin with, but after your review, I think I am not going to put it in my tbr pile. Thanks for the review!

Baba Well, you're certainly good at writing reviews, Lisa Kay!

Lisa Kay It might be to your liking, Hina.

Lisa Kay LOL! At least that, if not good in bed. LOL! Thanks, Baba.

Anna This week I was reading Winter Garden from Kristin Hannah, an author I usually enjoy. And I had to stop reading it because I was crying buckets. It's not a bad book, it's just sad, very sad. I am going to feel bad giving it a one star, but I just didn't enjoy so much sadness... I agree with you, I don't see the point in reading to suffer.

Lisa Kay Oh, I was given that one as a gift and haven't read it yet. **sigh** I have heard it is good, but I don't think I can handle the sadness right now.

Vi I hated GiB too! It made me a bit sad but on the whole, HATE was the best emotion. Had to force myself a looot to finish it. I'm never picking up another book of hers specifically and women's fiction in general. /calming down

Lisa Kay Ah, Vi. Just now seeing this. Yes, I agree.

Vi Interesting seeing my year-old comment. I've read 2 or 3 Kristin Hannah (women's fiction) and while I can't read them anytime I want, they're ok when I'm in a specific mood.

But thinking about this book still makes me angry.

Lisa Kay Just now seeing your comment again, Vi. GRs bug, I guess. Anyway, yes! yes! yes! Even thinking about this books make me angry.
