My second by the author, as I have four stepchildren I thought this one might resonate. Not at all. Creepy and horrible from the beginning, I paused after the first chapter where a three year old goes missing, but restarted. Not a believable scenario in it. The 12 year old looking after her stepsister on her own, the mother staying at home waiting on the police and all to do their thing did not work for me for a second. Secrets abound. Don't like this type of book much as it is. Threw in the towel at 30%.
