This is the start to a delightful new series, Art of Love. Ms Lane is such a pro at creating enchanting Regency tales, and this latest book is no different. With his father's passing, Raph is now the new Marquess of Waneborough. He not only inherits the title, but also the debt and an estate which his father left in shambles. He also left a valuable art collection, but it comes with a stipulation. He can't sell any of the pieces until he creates a piece of his own. Well, Raph doesn't have an artistic bone in his body, so his only choice at money now is to marry an heiress. The only problem is, his bride searching efforts become distracted by his mother's companion, Matilda. Matilda was once governess to Raph's sister years ago, and now she is back and Raph can't stop thinking about her. Matilda is also drawn to him, but she knows he must marry for money to save the estate, and Matilda is penniless. But that doesn't stop the longing and affection they feel for each other.
This was an utterly charming read with well-developed characters that I was immediately endeared to. The chemistry between Raph and Matilda was strong and I loved their interactions and witty banter. The story was well-written and flowed smoothly and I enjoyed the plot twists throughout. A very enjoyable read which I would most definitely recommend!
I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
