No but how am I supposed to read this book especially with that cover 👀👀

In the words of Johnny Kavanagh, this was too bleeding adorable and made my heart go all boom boom.

Once again, fictional men raising the bar sky high. No surprise there. When I say Johnny Kavanagh is the man, i mean, he is THE man. I can't even explain, its just sooo cute aghhh. He defines the 'obsessed boy' trope. Me personally, never liked that trope. Most of the times, it sounded too unreasonable, a boy suddenly becoming obsessed without a solid reason or build up. But this book had it. I never felt for a moment, Johnny's obsession being unreasonable. The buildup was freaking perfect.
But does that deny the fact that he is dumb af? Heh no. Dude, it would take anyone two seconds to figure out, it was her father who did those things.

Shannon like the river. She was fine, i guess? She was portrayed pretty simple though. I know some people would find her annoying, her constantly apologizing and doubting and the 'are you sure?' questions. But I didn't. Nope. Instead I found it completely reasonable. What do you expect from a girl who has been terrorized her whole life and doesn't own a single friend who would treat her like that. So yeah, she was fine and a good standing example of an awkward introvert.

Gibsie: YEAHHHH. MY MAN. My favorite character. Literally he's the best. If you don't like him...right, it's impossible for anyone to NOT like him, sorry. Johnny and Gibsie's friendship was everything. They set out the friendship goals, you hear me? I don't think I've ever laughed this hard. Thanks, King Clit 😉

And the hospital scene was worth all the 800 pages. At that point, I was too far gone. I didn't even care if you heard crackling up like a maniac and throwing my legs up in the air. I can't get enough of them!!!

That ending-
It broke me. I mean, the way it was written, it just felt so real. And I didn't even notice when the tears started rolling down but just- no child deserves that. But it happens. And that's the truth. And we don't do shit about it. How can people be this cruel, i have no clue. Beating your own daughter till she bleeds, it just hurts to read all that.
