“I would beg,” he murmured. “For you, I would. You have fucking destroyed me, Oraya. Do you know that?”

edit: no bc i literally thought gr deleted this review and i was so ready to throw hands
I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!! after reading the second book i will say it was far better but this book was the perfect intro to this world, you don’t get a lot of info here about the vampire houses and the politics of it so you’re a little confused grasping everything, but the second book does go in depth more so if you read the first pls read the second book!! 🫶🏽
This might have been like one of my first New Adult fantasy romances and I ate this shit up. I never knew I would be into a book with vampires just cause when I think of vampires I automatically think of Twilight 😭
So Oraya (FMC) is human and she was found as a child by Vincent (everyone has unique ass names but his is just Vincent ...okay) and he's the king of the Nightborn house and he basically adopts her as his own, and every 100 or 200 years (cant remember oops) this thing called the Kejari which is basically this intense ass tournament, with a series of multiple games, which she will be provided with whatever she wants from the goddess Nyaxia if she wins. The catch is that she's the only human competing amongst all vampires so it aint easy. She ends up meeting Raihn and he is considered a rival to both her and her father's crown but ofc they have this undeniable chemistry and they're drawn to each other.
this literally was a hunger games x vampires, the chemistry, the angst, she literally stabs him in their first interaction….
Genuinely found this book pretty interesting and for most cases, it takes about 50-100 pages to get into fantasy books but right away i was pulled into this world. the chemistry the banter ❤️🔥 I loved raihn 95% of the time <3. and oraya did piss me off a bit but i loved them fr. cannot wait for the rest of the series.
literally plssssss go read this if you haven’t i am BEGGING YOU 🥰
i think about this book weekly, daily, by the hour, and by the minute. i do not think any book will be able to compare to this one. i do not buy physical copies if i am able to read them on my kindle but this book deserves a spot of my shelf 🧎🏽♀️ i praise this book constantly
here are some of my fav quotes from this book❤️🔥 (possible spoilers) :
He was on his knees, staring up at me. And that—the way he looked at me—was the first thing that felt real. Real, and raw, and… and confusing. Because he looked at me in sheer awe—like I was the most incredible thing he had ever seen. Like I was a fucking goddess.
imagining this scene had me feeling butterflies
“I can’t take credit for everything that you’ve become, Oraya. Even if sometimes I wish I could. But if I’m responsible for just one small piece of that, it will have been the greatest accomplishment of my life.”
even if Vincent kinda had me suspicious this moment had me 🥲 i loved vincent
“That wasn’t how I’d imagined making you come for the first time,” he remarked.
“The things I’ve thought about. ‘Want’ doesn’t even fucking cover it. I have a list.”
ALL OF THESE HAD ME 🧎🏽♀️🧎🏽♀️🤰🏽🤰🏽 even tho i will never get to see raihn i know that man is fine as helllllllll just by the way he talks.
