Another winner by Paul Auster. I just wish his paragraphs didn't run on for days.

JanB Haha!

Violeta He is a favorite but he can be exhausting, I agree. Glad to see your appreciation, Jenna - although I cannot for the life of me remember what it was about :))

Kevin, that is, ridiculous. How, can anyone, use too many, commas? I mean, really, they are, necessary.

Seriously though, I've never noticed that..... perhaps I use just as many? They have to be used where we would normally pause because otherwise the reader gets figuratively out of breath. I personally am a fan of commas, and especially the Oxford one.

Jan, there were times I looked ahead a few pages just to see when the next paragraph break would be. I think the only writer I've read who used fewer of them is José Saramago.... if my memory is correct of the one book of his I've read, he never once used a paragraph break in the entire book. That is the reason it's the only book of his I've read.

Yes, he can be, Violeta, but he's brilliant. This one is about a guy writing the story of his friend Benjamin Sachs, who accidentally blew himself up while acting as the Phantom of Liberty.

Debbie W. Hahahahaha! Must have been fun trying to figure out when to stop reading so that you could go to the bathroom! 😆

Jenna ❤ ❀ ❤ LOL!! I usually just made a highlight in the Kindle so I'd know where I stopped. My bladder isn't so young anymore!

Hanneke Hah, but you’re still continuing to read Auster, right!

Jenna ❤ ❀ ❤ Hanneke wrote: "Hah, but you’re still continuing to read Auster, right!"

Absolutely, Hanneke! I love his writing in spite of his not knowing when to take a break :)

Hanneke Jenna, here the same. I do love Auster’s writing. Very much!

Beata Another title including Leviathan that pops up just in front of me, Jenna :)) I've never read anything by Auster although he gets so much praise ... One day, hopefully :))

Leviathan isn't such a popular word for two books to have it in their title show up together! I hope, if you ever decide to read Auster, you'll enjoy his work too.

Leviathan..."

You are most convincing, Jenna :))

Hanneke Beata, just intervening in your conversation with Jenna to say Auster is quite an exceptional writer!
