While the premise of the story is good and it flows fairly well, there are so many inconsistencies in the military “slang” or organizational structure of the unit it’s actually rather distracting. First there are no direct combat units that have a unit SOLELY composed of officers, that all went to OCS together and then serve together. This is so outlandish that I almost stopped after the first book. However, I persevered hoping he would get it right. Next, in one passage, standard military verbiage is used and then the next passage that goes out the window and civilian terms are used, i.e. take point vs take the lead. Next, since when have the Marines NOT been associated with the Navy…and while they may fuss and fight, it is a symbiotic relationship that works. The Marines are NOT part of Space Force. I am a Navy vet and on that point alone I would stand with my Marine buddies to fight that change of relationship. Overall, it was at best entertaining but I would recommend that the author at least read Wikipedia to get some background on the military.
