I should have known better:
Never say never!
After a couple of flops, particularly book 11, I swore not to return to this series, and then I read one really enthusiastic review … so here I am. Just as well I don’t give in easily! 😂 (Thanks to Leslie and Elisa!)
This is a classic Alessandra Hazzard ‘enemies to lovers’ romance, and it worked really well.
Raffaele is suitably cold, nasty, arrogant and domineering. It is a shame we didn’t find out more about him, being in Nate’s POV predominantly.
Nate takes the well-known role of the gutsy PA who’s 'brave enough’to stand up to the monster boss and eventually becomes irreplaceable. To start with, sex happens as a result of a challenge, and it all develops from there. (and that includes heaps of heat and sizzle!)
Although there were elements which left me a little uneasy, I thoroughly enjoyed watching how these two guys find each other, against their better judgment and common sense. Alessandra Hazzard does the ‘hate you, love you’ aspect, the tension and UST so well!
I would have loved more POV from Raffaele (we only get two or three chapters) to understand him better. I didn’t really feel him, even though his actions gave his feelings away later on, but I would have liked to see at least some glimpses of humanity in him sooner. He is maybe just a wee bit overdrawn.
But apart from that, this was a captivating and engaging read (and revisiting Roman and Luke from book 6 was fun) and exactly what I expected from the author.
If you’re a fan of ‘enemies to lovers’ you’re certainly on a winner here.
Great entertainment!

Also happy you enjoyed your return to the dark, I mean AH side 🤣 The fact that you hates book 11 and it's one of my favorites has me curious, however. Did you dislike the MCs from there? Either way, I'm hoping you love the next installment too!

Thank you, Jan. Cearly, I'm a woman of strong character! 🤣😎😉Although it may have been Leslie's review. Darn. >🙄 My brain is a sieve. On second thought it probably was Elisa! 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
I know you didn't really like this one, and I get why, but for some reason it was ok for me to push my niggles aside. Thanks! 😘

LOL. Thank you Candy. Tbh, there was very little I liked about book 11 and it's easier to link my review than to go over it. But this one was fine! 😉😊

LOL Glad you didn't give up on the series after all and that you enjoyed this one! Great review, Ariana! 💕
Great review, so glad it was a win for you! I’m with Candy and loved book 11, but this series is so crazy it makes sense we all like different ones. 😘
Fab review, Ariana 💗 Completely agree with you about Rafe’s character (I thought Derek Rutledge was bad but Rafe really took it to a whole other level) 😂. I would have loved more of his POV too. Despite your reservations, I’m glad you still enjoyed it. As for reviews, mine was naff 🙈 Leslie’s on the other hand was Awesometacular 🙌 and deserves the credit! 😘

I liked a lot of books in this series, but felt that after book 6 the writing got weaker, and in general I wasn't so keen on the later books. Glad to find this one was entertaining again! Thank you, Papie! 😘

After getting epically confused over names 🙄, I left a mention for both of you lovely ladies now! 🤗 And yeah, agree on both, Derek and Rafe. Not sure anyone with some kind of heart would be able to behave that ruthlessly to people, not matter if it's an a personal or professional level. Still - good fun! 😘 Thanks!
