really liked it
bookshelves: drama-to-rival-my-mothers-soaps, mythology, read-in-2020, retellings

This book was basically just A Touch of Darkness but told through Hades' perspective.

So, naturally, everything was 100x funnier and 100x less annoying. (Basically, Hades spends the entire book being angsty and horny.)

The writing is still the same, the drama is still the same, and, of course, the smut is the same.

There was, however, an additional plotline because apparently he doesn't just simp for Persephone in his free time, and we see a lot of the other gods, too, which I enjoyed as well.

Overall, this was probably better than A Touch of Darkness.

why didn't they stick to the same font family as the main series??

Lisa Hey! Do you think it’s ok if I read it even though I didn’t read A Torch of Darkness?

human Olga wrote: "ok i enjoyed reading this lmao"

i'm glad!

human Elizaveta wrote: "Hey! Do you think it’s ok if I read it even though I didn’t read A Torch of Darkness?"

hmm. both of the books are the same, except this one is told through Hades' perspective, so it's infinitely less annoying. i'd say yes, you wouldn't miss anything :)

Momo I’m glad I’m not the only person that finds Persephone infuriatingly annoying

human Momo wrote: "I’m glad I’m not the only person that finds Persephone infuriatingly annoying"

I really thought more people would, especially considering how insufferable she got in the second book.

nNixie This book should be called "Sexual Frustrations of Lord Hades"

Shelli Except the narrators voice is ick.

human Shelli wrote: "Except the narrators voice is ick."

as in the audiobook? oh man, i didn't even know this book had an audiobook 💀💀💀 that's quite unfortunate, you have all of my condolences

Happily Ever Anthology (Sophia) I’m dying because I was today years old when I learned that the “Game of…” books are the same story as the one in “Touch of…” (I’ve only read Touch of Darkness and I thought it was meh, and the spicy is way overhyped, and lazily written). I thought these were two different series. I thought the “Touch of…” was Hades x Persephone while the “Game of….” series was just Hades, but a different Hades. It’s not unheard of for authors to do retellings multiple ways. Katee Robert actually does that with Hades. She had one version of Hades in Neon Gods and then a different Hades in a different universe in her Wicked Villains series. For the St. Clair books, THE COVERS DO NOT EVEN USE THE SAME FONT. I’m 99.99% sure that even in Touch of Darkness, where all her books are listed, it has “Hades x Persephone” as a header and then all the “Touch of…” books in order under it, and then a separate new header for “Hades Saga” with the “Game of…” books in order under that header. It’s just funny because one of the reasons I found Touch of Darkness to be so boring was because it wasn’t dual POV and Hades, by his nature, is broody haha. Mind blown. And I can’t tell if that makes me more pumped or less to continue the series. Because as it stood, I thought Touch of Darkness could have used some editing because it was slow as heck. Brand new information.

LMAOOO glad i was able to enlighten you on that :' )
i haven't read anything by katee roberts but now that you mention those series i just might have to check them out :D at the very least i doubt there's anything that could be worse than these books skdfjskd
AND YES OMG FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE NOTICED THE FONTS TOO PLS I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE 😭
honestly the touch of darkness series only gets worse from that point on so i don't have much hope in it as things stand at the moment, but i am looking forward to the whole game of fate series and how that's going to play out because even if the story is trash at least hades' perspective makes it somewhat tolerable and amusing :,)

Bookmarkfaerie Your review is top tier 😆 Yes Persephone will have your eyes rolling. Good to relive the story from his POV. Makes me love the guy even more. I think the female narrator's Hades is better but both are tolerable. But when you scratched out the part about Hades doesn't just simp for Persephone I screamed 😆😆

human Allison wrote: "Your review is top tier 😆 Yes Persephone will have your eyes rolling. Good to relive the story from his POV. Makes me love the guy even more. I think the female narrator's Hades is better but both ..."

aww thank you 🥺🥺 and yes, i definitely agree, the book gives me a greater appreciation for hades fs lmao. and i'm glad you enjoyed my review mehehe :D

Jax Man I WANT to read Hades perspective based on your review (and who wouldn't love angsty horny hades) but man I really didn't enjoy Persephone's first book. It didn't feel like it went anywhere. I didn't continue with the series because of it....

message 31: by Alena (new)

Alena Pecková Ok then my question is: Can I read this without reading A Touch of Darkness?

This is so valid of you bc the series only gets WORSE from there 😭😭 it was so disappointing and if I’m being honest I’m not sure why I’m still reading it or planning to other than I started it so I might as well finish it too 🤡🤡 idk about this book though,,, like I feel like it might have the potential to fill in some of the gaps from the main series but idk. Plus it keeps getting pushed off 🥲

human Alena wrote: "Ok then my question is: Can I read this without reading A Touch of Darkness?"

Well I suppose you could :D it’s pretty much the same exact story, some parts line for line, and it’s not a novella so much as it is a companion book, so you don’t have to read the other one to understand what’s going on here. It just tells a different side to the same story :D

message 34: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay Atkinson Should I read this before I read the second book in a touch of darkness? or just come back to it after the third book?

human Lindsay wrote: "Should I read this before I read the second book in a touch of darkness? or just come back to it after the third book?"

I mean, I read this after the first two in the main series but that was because I didn’t know it existed and the third one hadn’t come out yet lol. Honestly if you’re planning on reading the third book you should probably come to this afterwards 🥲

message 36: by Mery (new) - added it

Mery hi do i have to read a touch of darkness in order to read a game of fate ?

Nicole this is the most accurate review 😂

Amanda Brooks-Taylor I just started Touch of Darkness, when I’m done which book should I read next? A game of Fate and then a Touch of Malice and back and forth?

message 39: by Jessica (new) - added it

Jessica Knauf-Caswell Definitely accurate 😭😂 I didn’t realize how annoying Persephone actually was until I FLEW through this book and it took me a couple days to get through A Touch of Darkness. I enjoyed both books but Hades version was by far much, much better 😆

Michelle M The most developed character in here is for sure Hades’ cock. If you’re looking for 90% sex, and very little story development, this is the book for you.

message 41: by Rebecca (new) - added it

Rebecca Perkins I feel like this is a perfect description my only wish for this book is that they didn't include word for word reenactment of the smut. Like everything else was 10/10 but I do not need to re-read the exact scenes again so close to finishing the other book lol

message 42: by Velaria (new) - added it

Velaria Hey, sorry, do you think it's okay to make a tandem read with touch of darkness? I just wanna read the story from both perspectives

message 43: by Linda (new) - added it

Linda Paul Is it still worth reading, after i have read the main serie? Because this is the first time i hear about this side serie.
