Hysterical!
After the birth of her son, a woman is diagnosed by her husband as suffering from a nervous disorder and hysteria.
Although, her husband is a physician, not a psychiatrist, he decides that time in the country is going to be good for her, so they rent a big old house in the country.
The narrator doesn’t like the wallpaper in her room and tries to tell her husband, repeatedly. And like the “expert” he is, he ignores her.
She tries to explain the patterns and the horrific color and the images of the woman, but he only laughs at her and calls her “little girl.”
And then she becomes friends with the wallpaper...and the patterns. And the woman in the wallpaper escapes…
Five wonderful stars. ✨✨✨✨✨

Thanks for your review. I have always wanted to read this, after seeing an adaptation many years back. I have a used copy of the book that I bought many years back somewhere at home, I'll have to see if I can find it.
You’re welcome. Louis! I’ve never seen the adaptation. Maybe I’ll look for it. Hope you find your book. 😎
I don’t remember the first time I read it, but I remember this time. And I really enjoyed reading it. 😎
Omg Zain scary review! You scared me !!!!!! I’m glad I don’t have yellow wallpaper in my room ! It’s painted…..lol ! On my Tbr list by the way
So crazy, and weird. AND Hysterical lol. It only took my five months but did check it out xD. Wonderful review Zoey!
Fab review, Zain! I have this audiobook to listen to during “Spooky October Reads” month. Good to know it’s a winner.
Nice..I'm finding two versions of this at the library of which one is 'dual text' and the other is this story with several others..which one did you read?
My first exposure to this piece was English 101 and it profoundly affected me. It was absolutely mind blowing piece of horror. Thoroughly enjoyed the round robin class discussion after.
The Yellow Wallpaper is probably THE novel on the alleged nineteenth century women’s disease “hysteria”. I also think it pretty much captures the essence of the issue. The 19th century medical discourse is fascinating as well as grotesque😃

I would have loved to be in on those class discussions. 😎

I don’t believe in hysteria. But the woman won in the end. 🙃

Wow, what a bizarre idea for a story Zain - WALLPAPER!! I love your 'hysterical' opening too - great review!
