I know a lot of people have left great reviews for this book, but I only got about 2/3 of the way through it before I finally decided it was enough.

Life is too short to read books you're not enjoying.

I felt like every page was "blah, blah, blah, blah......." I can't even think of one single thing that stood out to me. I read more than half the book, and it left no impression on me!

If you're looking for a book on prayer, read the Psalms! I've learned more about what my prayer life should look like from Psalms than anything else.

This is my second Timothy Keller book to read, and so far, I'm just not that impressed. I'll give him one more chance....

message 1: by Hannah (new)

Hannah I've read two TK books...thought one was great, and the other was OK. I've read one John Piper book, and thought it was fine. But both I respect as excellent preachers and teachers...just doesn't always translate to writing, I guess.

message 2: by Elise (new) - added it

Elise Which TK book did you think was great and JP?

I've never listened to either of them preach. Maybe that's what I should look into next!

message 3: by Hannah (new)

Hannah Counterfeit Gods by TK, and Future Grace by JP. TK is one of my favorite preachers ever. Always thought provoking.
