it was amazing
bookshelves: 2019-reads, and-reread, fantasy-urban-fantasy, holy-fucking-grail, favorites
Read 4 times. Last read November 19, 2019 to November 30, 2019.

And again, I am at this point, where of course I can make a return, but something is definitely over. And as every time I'm sad because, as Ciri used to say, it's just not fair. It's over. But the war is not over, the evil is not gone and it will never be, but there will be no Witcher to fight it. Because that world didn't deserve that Witcher. Will Ciri come back to save it? I don't think so. The question remains unanswered. For you to guess.
While I understand some critics I can't do nothing else but love the book, even more than before. Love the series, love the characters. Even though I think that it's unfair (again!) that Sapkowski went full g.r.r.martin on some of them... Mind you, before it was cool.
Happy to have read it again. Till next time, Witcher! <3

Magick Great review Caro! I will read these some time in the near future. I'm sure you are aware there are very, very good Witcher video games with excellent stories.

Neradau, ha, bet norėčiau :D

Thank you :)
Yeah, I'm very much aware, but I'm not into gaming, alas.

Magick Not trying to change your mind, but Witcher 3 has a "story mode", where it becomes more interactive fiction than gaming. That is how I played it, and the story really is quite good. It is a book in a different format.

message 16: by Sad (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sad Sunday (Books? Me?!? NEVER!!!) I will second Mr. Windup Bird. CARO, GO PLAY THE GAME! :D The Witcher 3 is one of the best games I have ever played, and I don't play shi** :D If you are not into gaming, you will be into The Wicther 3. Simply amazeballs. I am sure if you tried - we would see you in 2021, since you would be busy crafting your armour, playing Gwent, and looking for old lady's pan and goat (yes, there is such a quest).

Hahaha! See, that's why I'm not into it - the fact that it will take me a year :P

message 18: by Sad (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sad Sunday (Books? Me?!? NEVER!!!) But it will be a glorious year (with pans, goats and all other awesome stuff). Some people always talk about deleting their memory for playing or reading or seeing great stuff again, so I would gladly play The Wicher 3 thousand time :D

message 19: by Magick (new) - added it

Magick You can follow the main story in much less time, but like Sad said, you will want to explore everything. It's very immersive.

message 20: by Sad (last edited Dec 01, 2019 11:26AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sad Sunday (Books? Me?!? NEVER!!!) And you have Roach, a great horse, to speed things up!

message 21: by Magick (new) - added it

Magick I will also say I am not "into gaming", per sey. Occasionally there is an original work with no text analog, and the only way to experience the story is to play. :) Most people associate gaming with 13 year old boys screaming obscenities on Discord, but it is not that. :)

message 22: by Caro (last edited Dec 01, 2019 10:01PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Caro the Helmet Lady Guys, I really do understand the fun and for example, I can't wait for FFVII remake just because I had so much fun playing it years ago (for like 5-6 times???) and I want to at least have a peek. But I'm not into gaming ATM. Books are in the first place! :)

message 23: by Magick (new) - added it

Magick Well said Caro! TBH I have not played a game since my son moved to live with his mom a year ago. It was something we had in common to talk about, but I'm much happier spending the time reading. :)

message 24: by Sad (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sad Sunday (Books? Me?!? NEVER!!!) *plays The Long Dark, Firewatch, Dreamfall, Dragon Age like there is no tomorrow WHILE reading a ton of books* Le gasp! XD

message 25: by Magick (new) - added it

Magick I did love Dragon Age Origins! And Deus Ex Human Revolution. Bioshock Infinite, Fallout New Vegas, Mass Effect 2... I played Portal 1 & 2 while going through a divorce and fell in love with a video game security system (the cake is a lie). Nearly had a nervous breakdown when I discovered there was no Half-Life 3. Actually had a nervous breakdown when Deus Ex Mankind Divided was a flop. . :)

message 26: by Sad (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sad Sunday (Books? Me?!? NEVER!!!) Dragon Age is awesome! Also played Inquisition and II, but Origins is the best. Portal is one of the best games too. My father played it too, and I remember when he was nearing the end of the first game, and asked: "When I will get the real gun?" XD Now every time I eat cake, I remember it... Can't wait for Metro 2077.

message 29: by Caro (new) - rated it 5 stars

Caro the Helmet Lady LOL no no no please spare me :P :D

message 30: by Sad (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sad Sunday (Books? Me?!? NEVER!!!) Sure, but my DNF book list is more impressive :D

message 31: by Caro (last edited Dec 02, 2019 04:03AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Caro the Helmet Lady And it should have its place in the national heritage list! :D

message 32: by Magick (new) - added it

Magick Ok Caro, Sad, time to fess up. Favorite books?

message 33: by Magick (new) - added it

Magick If you had to pick just one.

message 34: by Caro (new) - rated it 5 stars

Caro the Helmet Lady Just one?? No way :D

message 35: by Sad (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sad Sunday (Books? Me?!? NEVER!!!) Daaaaamn... Witch body part do you like the most? Like, the little finger of your feet seems pretty unimportant, but try connecting it with a chair or a table at night and you will be awarded with the knowledge of importance. So, it's impossible to choose the one :D

message 36: by Magick (new) - added it

Magick No desert island for you eh? :) Fair enough.

Magick Wait... You have fingers on your feet? In that case, I'll choose to abandon my prehensile tail. :)

message 39: by Sad (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sad Sunday (Books? Me?!? NEVER!!!) Toes! It's toes! :D English is not my mother-tongue, so sometimes I say weird or mutated things :D

message 40: by Sad (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sad Sunday (Books? Me?!? NEVER!!!) P.s Desert island situation - just pack Kindle :D It can "carry" a "few" books.

message 41: by Magick (new) - added it

Magick Haha I was just kidding you Sad. I can't speak a word of Lithuanian, so you are WAY ahead of me! Your English is fantastic.

message 42: by Sad (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sad Sunday (Books? Me?!? NEVER!!!) Thank you! :)
