Rose Fleming has been presumed dead for the last decade. It required leaving everything—and everyone—she loved behind, including MacAllister Campbell. But faking her death allowed her to stay safe until the threat posed by a mysterious villain had passed. Believing it’s finally safe again, she returns...and runs smack into the only man she ever loved.

But Rose was wrong and the stalker she escaped years ago still has her in his sights.

Ten years ago, Mac mourned the death of the woman he loved. It’s taken years to heal his heart only to discover that not only is Rose still alive, but still in grave danger. Mac can forgive Rose’s deception, but he’d never be able to forgive himself if he didn’t protect her from the evil still stalking her.

The only thing worse than losing her once would be losing her again... and he won’t let that happen.

THOUGHTS

This book. I’ve never had so many emotions about the leading characters. Don’t be fooled by the title - Scotland and being Scottish hardly apply to this book. You won’t read of the beautiful Scottish burr. Which is a shame.

If you’re anything like me, this book will frustrate you and make you hate the lead characters just a little. It makes no sense to me that *spoiler alert* Mac is terrified of loosing Rose as he once did ten years ago. But it quite happy to sleep with her.

There just something about the writing style, or missing story element that hadn’t quite been ironed out. If Rose was the love of his life then how could he easily let you go? Maybe it’s because I’ve read many a historical romance and while the leading man is always a little pigheaded the one thing you can count on his their need to protect - at all costs. Mac lack some of that.

Though in all honesty the same could be applied to Rose, this strong, independent woman who didn’t want anyone to get hurt. Makes sense. What doesn’t make sense to me is that she left her bodyguard back in America?!? Erm hello... you’re returning back to England knowing that someone wants to kill you and yet you don’t protect yourself!

It’s these little plot elements *or booboos* as I like to call them that make this a frustrating read, it’s full of strong characters but it’s like the author has crammed too much in.

**Thanks to the Author and Netgalley for the advanced copy of this book. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.**
