Amanda L I love this and I'm about 15 pages into it. If I'm anticipating this correctly, it's a beautiful account of a near-Godly man's regression (and de-evolution) into corruption. Seems an allegory of sorts as well, in its both implicit and express address of the philosophy of art and beauty. (at the risk of being ostracized for my pretentiousness, ahem-- Ben), much of the dialogue style is reminiscent of the Socratic method (in which Socrates stimulates people to answer their own questions by responding to them with pointed and astute inquisition(s), through which a person is able to realize truth solely by self-discovery).

I'm also pretty wilde(HA) about the implicit love (perhaps unrequited?) of the artist for his subject. The word 'worship' is used and seems rather fitting.
