This could have been a 4/5 star read for me if the plot hadn't gone off the rails at a certain point. I truly believe everyone should write the story that needs to be written, so I NEVER complain about the plot unless it's just completely ridiculously OTT or doesn't make sense. The writing was good for the most part, the relationship was pretty compelling. Still, there's cheating in this book, which I knew going in, and I was very invested even at that point. It made sense and I was very curious to see how it played out. It didn't go well.
One problem is the pacing because it happened way to late in the book with a lot of other things going on, so there was a very slim chance of redeeming the cheater. Still, the main issue is that the conflict resolution was so lacklustre (especially compared to the cheating, the way the cheating was written, and the consequences of the cheating) that it ruined the book for me. I did write a whole rant that is staying in my drafts because I don't have it in me to rewrite it in a non-scathing way, so I'll leave it at that....more
