She buries her grief from her parents’ mysterious disappearance, 3 years ago by keeping busy at her university art school and working at Faircrest’s New Age shop. On a rare night out her attention is caught by a handsome, sexy bartender who seeks her out, asking for friendship, and maybe more. This stranger is unlike any man she's ever known.
And when she discovers he’s also hiding secrets her world turns upside down, all while she falls deeply in love with this protective, and patient Fairy prince.

Reagan finds that learning to trust again is harder than she thought. Especially when the truth, and her love, leads her into a world unlike she has ever known.

The story line could have been interesting, but the dialogue was too juvenile and stilted. I listened to the audiobook (until I couldn't take it anymore) which might have made it seem worse. To me it sounded like a play written by a 10 year old:
Oh brother, I am so excited about the summer solstice dance!
(Laughing) Of course you are sister! You are the daughter of the summer fairy!
(Giggling) You are right brother! I can't wait to go! Let us go get ready right now!
and so on... I could feel my IQ dropping the more I listened.

I gave up at 25%. I cannot handle the stilted juvenile writing. Ugh! So bad! Disappointed that I actually paid for this.

Killian was my Wednesday read and I enjoyed this book a lot. I was through with it within two days because it is such an easy, fast paced read. I loved the two main characters, Killian and Reagan. This one has it all: old prophecies, myths, sexy warriors, secrets waiting to be unraveled, humor and romance. [Read more...] They were so cute and awkward together, it made me smile at them all the time. But their background stories are very dark and none of them wants to share the tough things they had to through. But I like the way they pull through together and try to find a way to turn everything for the better.

The overall world created by the author is a wonderful depiction of where humans live, and where they'd like to live (the realm of fairies, Avalon). I would have loved for Avalon to be a little more detailed, a little bit more culture, food and things like that. Because I am a person who loves diving into alternative worlds.

The writing style, as mentioned, was quite fast paced and the story was told mostly by Reagan's perspective. I would have liked to hear a little more about Killian because he was so, so wonderful. He is an awesome guy, the kind of boyfriend every little girl wants. I really want to look into his head and see what he thought of some situations of why he did the things he did because this guy was an enigma at times. Though a sexy one, mind you. Reagan's mom didn't tell her daughter without a reason to be wary of the hot guys ;)

There was a certain amount of drama that I couldn't decide if I liked it or not to be honest. Sometimes I felt that the characters were the coolest people/ friends every but then they would just not react to something that was obviously very important, at least in my book, and then I wasn't sure what to thing of these things.

I kind of seem to trash the book here, but I am not. There is a reason I stayed up so long to finish this novel in record time. It was interesting, intriguing and had the right amount of humor. I was laughing my arse off half of the time and at some scenes I was almost crying. The end was so horrifying and unsatisfying at the same time, because I want MORE and I want it now. That's why I will buy the second book of the series, Treachery, as soon as I finish typing this review.

I can't wait to read what will happen next and who the villain is because there has to be one! This series has a lot of potential, I just have to know what Kelly did with my favourite characters.

Even though there are some minor things that confused me or I would have liked for the author to explain, or give background to, I can say that Killian is a good for everyone who loves a easy-to-read paranormal romance novel.

Final remark: If you wish to buy this book for somebody as present or otherwise, or are generally uncomfortable with certain topics, please bear in mind that this book does contain one (and a half) very explicit sexual scenes and choice words.

Killian (The Avalon Series Book 1) by Elizabeth Kelly Prince Killian of Avalon, needs to flee his fairy kingdom after it is attacked, and his family is murdered. He seeks refuge in the human realm and can only return once he finds his true mate.

Killian is a wonderful and imaginative story. It is fast-paced and impeccably written. It is full of mystery, romance, drama, and fantasy.

Killian is a worthy leader and hero. My heart went out to him for all he suffered and lost. He would make an excellent King. He is kind, yet a warrior.

Reagan Lunsa is a fun character. She is an art student who makes jewelry for a living. She has had a difficult life but doesn’t let that get he down. She has some trust issues, but that is to be expected.

I enjoyed Claudia’s character and her connection to Kilian and Regan. She was a good friend to both, yet mysterious.

I liked the similarities between Killian and Reagan: Claudia and her gift to both; the poem they both knew; the story of the fairy prince and the moon goddess.

Killian ends in a cliff hanger, and I really want to know what happens next. I have a feeling it is going to be good.

This is one of those books were you sit at the end swiping your kindle like NOOOOOOO why did you do this to me???? There has to be more!!!

I’m glad to say I found out there is indeed more and we don’t have to wait that long.

The best way to describe this story is that it’s a modern day, sexy story set around the “fairy” story line with it’s very own unique twists and turns.

Killian, now that’s what I call a whole new kind of book boyfriend. A bad*ss warrior fairy that had to abandon home and was trusted into the human realm after witnessing the most brutal of things.

Reagan, a girl I’d love to hate but don’t. She has gone or rather is still going through her fair share of bad ordeals. So when that sexy bartender shows an interest in her she is very wary at first.

What’ll happen next is for me to know and for you to find out. Yeah I know all cryptic but necessary to maintain the mystery of the story. Trust me you’ll love me for it in the end!

I cannot wait to get my hands on the next installment after the way we were left hanging in this book.

If you love fairies, modern setting with a hint of sexy and lot’s of mysteries you’ll love this book as much as I did!

This was one of those books I kept saying I'm going to stop reading for one reason or another but I ended up finishing it only to be disappointed with a cliffhanger and no second book.

I'd say a 2.5 versus a 3. It has your typical instalove that's justified by the mate bond yada yada. Sometimes I'm ok with it and this time I was I guess. It has some corny romance but I was okay with that too. I was in the mood!

I didn't really like Killian. I did but there were things I def didn't like. First of all he went stalker on Reagan and she's okay with it. She's creeped out maybe for two days and then decided he's ok and falls in love with him in two weeks.

...

Some of his "friends" make fun of reagen several times and he does nothing. Nothing! She even calls him out once and nothing! For being a chivalrous old fairy he is quick to have his way with her and not stand up for her. He just bothered me.

It was soooo obvious to me who her parents were I wanted to beat Killian and reagen over the head that it didn't click. It could not have been more obvious.

I did like their romance and that there was no love triangle. Overall it was a sweet romance and a quick read.

*Actual rating: 2.5/5 stars*

I really liked the first half of this book but then it went downhill from there. The first half was quite original and I really enjoyed reading about Killian and his time in Avalon. The second half of the book though was quite awful. After meeting his soul mate or true mate Reagan, Killian transforms from a strong and independent man into a spineless vegetable who only cares about stalking Reagan and tryingto make her fall in love with him. This common trope of soul mates and their undying devotion to one another is so overdone and I was quite disappointed in this turn of events especially after how strong the first half of the book was. What saved it for me was the journey back to Avalon and that cliff hanger ending which left me wanting more. Overall, the plot of the book was quite good however the romance let it down as it was cliche and caused the characters to change significantly and quite unrealistically.

I was fortunate enough to beta read for Elizabeth on this book. Being a fan of Elizabeth's I had high expectations and she didn't disappoint. Killian had me glued to my seat from start to finish. The characters were easy to relate to, the story line was flawless and the legend she came up with had me saying "This women is a genius". You will fall head over heals for Killian. By far my favorite book of Elizabeth's so far, I wish I could give it more than 5 stars! If you like an great (paranormal) romantic suspense, this book is for you .

You are everything I need

Hit and miss throughout

So I read the reviews sounded good so I thought why not.... when Killian is in his homeland it's very confusing and there's no flow to it. Just a lot of starts and stops no explanation of what is going on. It leaves you feeling like his whole race are flakes and the whole sequence seems like an afterthought not the set up. Through the book it's he has a dual personality. One minute he's so sappy you want to through the book in the trash the next he's totally dissing his "true mate" with other girls. He loves her so much buts it's fine to make out with every girl that comes along. Reagan becomes an a fool with none of backbone. Seemed like the author tried to cover too much without enough thought into how the book was going to end.

Where to begin. First this isn’t your average fairy story. You have a little bit of what you see from other fairy books but not much. What’s the same: we have fairies, they have wings, monarchy, flying, gods and goddesses and they are not part of the human world unless by need. That is it.

Killian is the prince of his world. After tragedy strikes he is forced into the human realm. Here his fate is to be found. Fate found in a fiesty, spunky human named Reagan. Killian has roamed for years wandering aimlessly trying to find his true mate or at least someone to connect to so he can get home.

Finally he comes back to where he came into our world and begins bartending. Here he sees Reagan and his body reacts. True mates in his world have physical reactions to one another. They get itching and pulled toward the other. Reagan has this as well but puts it up as allergies. It’s fun to watch the push and pull between these two. Killian has such a friendly and kind demeanor it’s hard to see him as a warrior but he is. He is fierce at protecting reagan as well.

As we see their relationship build, we see some entertaining moments but also so intimate moments in more ways than not. We see two people learning about each other, becoming friends and lovers. Two people who help each other and support each other come together and want to heal the other.

Reagan fights what she feels to the end and in some ways this hurts Killian because he doesn’t know what to do. She is it for him and it scares her. Her feelings scare her. When Killian tells her the truth of who he is that was a momentous occasion and I am glad she didn’t run. These two are perfect for each other and this tale of them coming together shows how they complement each other.

Their road though is a rough one and the ending shows us this. I am on pins and needles over that ending. I hope for Killian’s sake that all works out I hate to see him suffer anymore. He lost his family and if he loses anything else in his life that would crush him.

A well crafted story with some twists and turns that have you wondering about a few characters like the woman who took in Reagan after her parents left that brings the fairy world to a different level. A engaging story of Reagan and Killian how they came together and what fate has in store for them.

“Do you believe in fairies, Reagan?”

Reagan has been living her life under a cloud for much of her life. Facing some great tragedy, she is working hard to finish college, live her life, and investigate her path. Getting talked into going to the club, just this once, she gets a … strange feeling while there.
Killian is working as a bartender. Although he hangs out with the other guys from the club, he’s always been a little removed, never really going for the girls or partying. Until one day, he sees a girl dressed like a fairy who makes him feel things he’s never felt before.

Pursuing her wasn’t going to be easy.
Convincing her to take a chance on him-also difficult.
Persuading her he’s from another realm and he’s a fairy? Almost impossible.

“I know this must be difficult to hear, but Avalon is the home of the fairies. We are from another ream and live in peace for the most part.”
“Killian, are you telling me you are a fairy?”
“Yes.”

I LOVED this story! I’ve always enjoyed stories about fantastical beings and this was given such a great concept. Crossing between the realm of fairies and the realm of humanity is such a great contradiction. Killian, a brave and powerful warrior, is stuck in the human realm after a devastating attack on his home. He needs to find his true mate, but it is seeming like all hope is gone. Until …
Reagan is living her life shrouded in mystery. Missing parents, missing motive, and secrets have kept her from feeling settled in her life. Always looking, Reagan is still missing something. Until a strange bartender makes her feel things she doesn’t understand.

This is a great story of mystery. At every turn we are met with an unraveled thread that needs to be followed back, and then in turn leads to another unraveled thread. There’s a huge difference between the customs of the realms and adjusting to each is exhausting. Also, as I began to meet more characters, my suspicion grows. Who was behind the attack? Who is Reagan, really? There was no point I did not want to keep reading!

This book reminds me of the stories that began my love of reading. Action, intrigue, romance, family, and mystery – it has everything! Highly recommended.

I received this book from net galley for an honest review. Thank you!!

I really enjoyed this novel. It was a good read and interesting story line. We first meet Killian, a fairy prince. Fairies age differently than humans and time travels differently in the fairy realm. Killian has been trapped in the human realm since the murder of his family. He does not know who the enemy is or why they were attacked. He tries to find a way back but the only way he can return is if he finds his true mate and she loves him. I liked how the first few characters were about Killian's background and he came to be in the fairy realm. We also meet some important people in his life. Reagan is a human whose parents went missing and she stays with her mother's friend and son. Killian and Reagan meet at the bar Killian works at, but they do not speak with each other but have this intense reaction to each other. Killian tries to get to know Reagan, but she feels uncomfortable and at first feels like he is being a little stalkerish. Eventually, she gives him a chance but when he stands her up or she sees him with other girls, she changes her mind about spending time with him. Killian changes her mind and she gives him a chance. I got a little frustrated with Reagan at times since she could not decide what she wanted from Killian. Eventually they work things out, but part of Reagan still fears abandonment, since her parents mysteriously disappeared. She fears getting close to anyone and is afraid of what she feels for Killian, who accepts her and loves her knowing she is his true mate. They overcome some obstacles and eventually find the way back to Avalon. Killian joins up with his warriors but Reagan has not been feeling well and no one knows why. The story ends on a cliffhanger and I cannot wait to read the next novel in the series. If you enjoy romance, magic, and fairies, you will enjoy this book.

I was given "Killian" by Elizabeth Kelly, from the author and " Paranormal Romance & Authors that Rock" for an honest review. I had not read anything by this author before and was pleased with this first book. This is the first book in what I believe and hope will be a continued series. The book first follows Killian a Fairy Prince in his home land of Avalon, before an unknown tragedy happens and takes him from his family. He then is forced to live in the human realm until he finds and falls in love with his lifemate. After being in the human world for 100 years, he meets Reagan, a young woman virtually alone in the world following the mysterious disappearance of her parents 2 years ago. The book does follow a somewhat expected plot line regarding her parents, but I was none the less interested in the story. I rated the book a 5 out of 5 fangs. It was a quick read, with primarily captivating characters. The book left me with a lot of questions, most of which I can't voice here or ruin the story, but makes me want to read the next story. It definitely has a cliff hanger of an ending! My only complaint is that it is written in the first person, switching between Killian and Reagan, which at times becomes confusing at the start of a new chapter as who is now telling the story and in my opinion often leaves stories very short sighted.

I received this book as a ARC and I had no expectations good or bad. Now I read fantasy and paranormal books regularly and some are amazing and some fall short of a good read. This book however had both great points and its not so good points, and consider me an absolute amateur on writing and character development but this book kept me guessing and not in a good way.
Although the overall read was a good story, trying to associate and comprehend the characters proved difficult for me. At some points in the story, the main character is very hard to connect to. Some of the writing in this story was hard to follow, hard to read and to me the structure of the book was somewhat all over the place.
Now with all that being said, I liked the story, had it been a bit more fluid and the characters a tad easier to relate to, it would have been an absolute pleasure to read. So for those out there with similar taste to mine, read this book. It's not something you would regret reading. Just have fair warning that there are points to overlook or, correct in your own mind like I did.

Killian
by Elizabeth Kelly
So I requested to read this one, and after a couple of weeks I am finally finished!

Killian by Elizabeth, has created a very imaginative world. Killian is fast paced with enough romance, drama, and mystery…but for me I felt something was missing. But hey, these are my own thoughts right? And we all love what we all love.

I did enjoy the story, the characters had chemistry and that was lovely.

What I don’t like are Cliff-hangers, that end the way this ones does *insert grumpy face*

Fairy’s or Fae however you want to put it, are one of my fav genres in the paranormal world, it was cool to see it done. Killian is a prince and he has found his mate in Reagan.

It was a true romance story about how they come to find one another.

Would I recommend to others? For sure, I would always say give it ago, what I lie you may not and what I love you may not.

Overall 3.5 stars

This book is different from other fantasy books that have read, and I really loved it! The Author has combined Fairy Fantasy with Contemporary Romance! I loved the romantic moments, and the mystery surrounding the characters and their parents. The fact that the story switches between the human world, and the fairy world had me turning page after page! I Had to find out what happened!! I loved the romance and the interactions between the characters! The care that Killian showed to Reagan made me sigh and, made me want to find someone just like him! There was a touch of innocence in their story, but not to the point of being sickeningly sweet! If you want to escape from the usual genre you read.. This may be just the ticket!!

I enjoyed reading Killian and liked the story. Reagen is trying to find the her parents that have disappeared and the mystery behind it. She meets and is attracted to this hot and sexy guy by the name of Killian. Things start to unravel and some of her questions are answered to a degree as your read the story. The story goes into Avalon and bring many new questions and intrigue and you learn more of the different worlds. The story will captivate and leave you wanting to know the whole story. I was drawn into the story and enjoyed reading about Killian and Reagen! I cannot wait till the next book!

Oh I love this story. It combines the best of romance stories and fantasy stories, but it ends on a cliffhanger and I hate that.

I laughed, I cried, I tried to keep turning pages after I got to the end because I wasn’t ready for the story to end and I didn’t like how it ends. So there has to be more to this story…a second one. However don’t wait. Read this fabulous story now.

I give this story 4.5 out of 5 clouds

The story flowed fairly well and kept me very entertained. The characters were likeable. The plot had a good flow and arc. It was a nice length. The action definitely got more intense as you got further along. There were a few parts of the story where it contradicted itself, and a few minor editing errors, but that didn't detract from the story at all. This book does has a cliffhanger ending. All in all, it was a good read. I'll be looking for the next book in the series when it comes out.
