Awed, humbled, and infinitely grateful. Comments like this always make my day. I'm so, so glad she enjoyed SOME QUIET PLACE. I feel no pressure, only an intense desire to make sure she loves the next book just as much! (less)

Thank you, Georgeana. To answer your question, I came up with the idea for SOME QUIET PLACE one day when I’d typed something totally cliché, like, “Fear rooted me in place.” I sat back, frowning, and wondered how I could make this utterly unique from other moments consumed by fear. Somehow, that fear became a tall, blonde, snarky creature that roams the earth and instills terror into every human being simply by touch. It became Fear, who is now one of my favorite characters.

As for what I'm working on, I'm always writing! My project is definitely young adult. I don't know if I'll ever write another book set in the world of personified emotions, but that door is never closed! It's just a matter of being inspired and finding the right story. (less)

My First Indie Project

In June of 2015, my agent and I sold a novel on proposal.

It was a middle grade project. I’d submitted a synopsis and the first twenty pages, and at first, that was good enough for the publisher. Up until that point, the biggest challenge for me in my writing career had been turning in quality revisions and meeting deadlines. When this novel sold, I had no idea what was in store. Which was several Read more of this blog post »
