With the threat of dragons on everyone's mind, George wants to help the knights at the outposts, while his friend Henry wants to collect dragon scales, even at the risk of being tossed out of Knight School. The same day Sir Lucian shares a mysterious object—hidden under a cape in the front of the classroom—dragons are spotted over Knight School for Boys and Girls. Needing reliable helpers, the knights give George a special task. Then George sees Henry sneaking off, and he wants to stop him, but the knights are counting on him. Pulled in so many directions, what's a page to do? George barely has time to think about earning the next piece of armor: the Helmet of Salvation.

Helmet of Salvation - Theresa Linden

    Dear Reader

As you read the fifth book in the Armor of God series, you will notice that George and his friends have grown more responsible. They work hard—just as we must do—to continue practicing the virtues that earned them the first four pieces of armor.

However, they still face challenges, they still make mistakes, and they don’t always know the right thing to do. Isn’t that the same for each of us? This is why the Helmet of Salvation is a very important piece of our spiritual armor.

I hope you enjoy this story and especially Brother Coll’s advice to George.

    Happy reading,

    Theresa Linden

    Ephesians 6:13-17

"Therefore, put on the armor of God,

that you may be able to resist on the evil day and,

having done everything, to hold your ground.

So stand fast with your loins girded in truth,

clothed with righteousness as a breastplate, and

your feet shod in readiness for the gospel of peace.

In all circumstances, hold faith as a shield,

to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

And take the helmet of salvation and the

sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."

    To Protect & Defend

Sir Lucian, the one -armed knight, could be as secretive as the next knight. However, when it came to his lessons, he was usually very clear. So what was the deal with the mysterious, covered object on the desk in the front of the classroom?

George Pennington sat next to his friend Robyn Haylan at a two-student desk. He peered around the pages seated in front of them for a better look. He wished he sat at a desk in the front row, instead of two rows back.

Robyn straightened in her seat and leaned to one side, probably trying to get a better view.

George’s friend Henry kept popping up in his seat—whenever the knight glanced away. In fact, all the pages stared at it.

Meanwhile, Sir Lucian sat on the edge of the teacher’s desk in the front corner of the room. He wore a white shirt with big sleeves—the sleeve on his half arm cropped—and brown trousers tucked in tall boots. The knight was talking about—well, George wasn’t entirely sure—probably the next virtue and piece of armor. But every student in the room stared at the covered object. Who could pay attention to his lesson with such a mystery before them? Sir Lucian rarely used props in his lessons.

A dark blue cloak covered the strangely shaped object. Sir Lucian’s cape usually hung from the coat hook near the door, but the hook was empty today. It must have been his cape.

The covered object stood about three feet tall and almost four feet wide. Its unusual shape, all pointy in places, gave nothing away.

George covered his mouth and whispered to Robyn, "What do you think
