About this ebook

I have been blessed to know Rob Parks not only as a brother in the Lord, but also as a dear friend. In The Balance Is the Lords, Rob shares an encouraging word to the body of Christ to draw us into a deeper more intimate fellowship with the Lord. Rob encourages believers and clearly lays out a plan to live a balanced life in Christ to reflect the Lord to a lost and hurting world. He challenges us in the modern Western church to evaluate our value system within the church. Is it our large sanctuaries, big budgets, and professional staff that we value most or our personal relationship with Jesus Christ?
In chapter two, he discusses how we as believers can handle the difficulties we face in life with a proper, Christ-centered perspective. I have personally observed Rob live this out in his life while walking through the loss of his dear wife, Vicky, with integrity and a steadfastness that can only come from the Lord. Rob not only teaches with wisdom and depth but from the heart through his personal experiences with the Lord. Read the Balance Is the Lords, and it will bring you to a more solid and balanced walk in Christ, which is greatly needed in these desperate and uncertain times we are living in.
Robert Lowe
Robert is married to Lisa, and they have five children. He has served the body of Christ and the church in various volunteer and leadership roles since high school. He is the Internet marketing director for an RV dealership and serves as a lay elder at The Springs Church, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Good reminder to keep God first in everything we do, the second chapter stuck out to me about stewardship of our time and committing each day to God. We get so caught up in todays business that we put God on the back burner.

Dave is a house church leader with Springs Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and owns his own business, The Shed Yard, small storage sheds.

    Foreword

The word synergy comes to mind when reading The Balance is the Lord’s. Synergy is the bringing together the important critical components to a person’s life to have balanced living.

Rob addresses these important components with clarity and wisdom. He challenges the reader to bring God’s Truth and the Holy Spirit in sync with our life’s issues to have a healthy Godly balance.

There’s always been the struggle and tug by our world and culture to use our human reasoning and knowledge to live life. In this book you will find biblical principles to balance the physical and spiritual.

This book articulates how we can have healthy balance in our walk with the Lord. Rob challenges the reader to allow the Holy Spirit to clarify our vision, establish a solid faith and live freely in the liberty of Christ. When our faith, vision, prayer and study of God’s word are in sync with our everyday lives, we experience an incredible fulfillment and victory.

May you blessed and find the balance that God has for your life!

    Introduction

I carry a burden from the Lord for the church to come more fully into everything that Jesus Christ has purchased for us on the cross. This book covers most of the important areas of our lives in our walk with Him.

There is more than one way to climb a mountain and see different perspectives than give us a fuller understanding of what the eternal purposes of God are.

When Jesus saw His ministry drawing huge crowds, He climbed a hillside. Those who were apprenticed to Him, the committed climbed with Him. Arriving at a quiet place, He sat down and taught His climbing companions. Matthew 5:1-2 (The Message)

I believe that I’m writing to true climbing companions that want to know and live in obedience to God’s perfect will and be pleasing to Him in all things.

While you’re ascending, be open to what the Holy Spirit wants to reveal to you of a more excellent way to encounter the riches of Christ. His kingdom is established on the truth of the eternal realm and the righteousness of Christ.

You’re invited to follow me up to the heights of Mount Horeb (the mountain of God) to where the glory of God shines forth dispelling any darkness of the lowlands. There, the reality of having the mind of Christ is confirmed without any questions or illusions.

Jesus has called us to walk on a straight and narrow path, not to limit us but to keep us in a place of fulfillment and blessing. He’s the good shepherd and we need to trust His leadership, protection, and provision.

Thank you for taking the time to read the thoughts that God has put in my mind and I hope you really enjoy the journey!

    Chapter 1

    Double Vision

Mankind has been given two eyes, usually to see the same thing. Our physical senses help us navigate through this natural world. One of the definitions of vision, from the Webster’s New World Dictionary, is a mental image. Much of our framework of reference about the world we live in comes by what is seen.

I’m glad that my sight is unhindered and I can behold the wonders of God’s creation, the beauty of a child, and the loving response of family. There are times when I wish that blindness would keep me from seeing violence, disasters, and poverty.

This would be very troublesome if this was the only realm but there is another which is spiritual or supernatural. It takes a different type of eyes to see into this realm, those that have divine enablement. The spiritual and natural worlds are diametrical.

Jesus told a Pharisee, named Nicodemus, I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God, unless he is born again. John 3:3, this is the beginning of spiritual vision. It’s a gift from our new birth in Christ. Like natural vision is to a newborn child, there is an adjustment time necessary.

Jesus emphasized this when He had an encounter with Nathanael. "When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, He said of him, here is a true Israelite in whom there is nothing false. How do you know me? Nathanael asked. Jesus answered; I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Phillip called you.

Then Nathanael declared, Rabbi, you are the son of God; you are the king of Israel. Jesus said, you believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You shall see greater things than that. He then added, I tell you the truth, you shall see heaven open and the angels of God ascending and descending on the son of man." John 1:47-51

Nathanael was amazed by what Jesus knew through a word of knowledge. Jesus wanted him to understand what was in store for his future. The Lord saw Nathanael’s heart and knew that he would have an open heaven and see heavenly things. Purity of heart always precedes spiritual vision.

Jesus, sitting on a mountain side, taught the people saying, the eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness. Matthew 6:22-23

This is another confirming word on the need for Christians to guard their hearts in order to have illumination into the spiritual dimension. When people see something in this natural world of ours, many ideas may be triggered in our brains. Five individuals might see the same accident, yet each has a different account of it.

I like to go to the city parks and sit on a bench and watch all of the people that come to have a picnic or play sports. One thing that I’ve learned in over sixty years of observation is that you can’t judge a book by its cover.

Let’s look at an account from the book of Samuel, where Samuel anoints David to be the next king of Israel. When they arrived, Samuel saw Eliab and thought, surely the Lord’s anointed stands here before the Lord. But the Lord said to Samuel; do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance but the Lord looks at the heart. 1 Samuel 16:6-7

Samuel is one of the greatest prophets that ever lived but missed God’s selection of a king. The world is very impressed with size, natural beauty, and wealth. It looks
