About this ebook

Dont Kill This Child focuses on the importance of us delivering that eternal purpose for which God brought us here on earth. It stresses that in an attempt to birth that purpose, there must be many tough challenges to overcome, but in the midst of those struggles and challenges, we must not let that child in us die. The child here speaks of the gift, transformative ideas, or talent that God deposited in every individual that only that individual can exploit, develop, or nurture for the benefit of others. The book tells us that God has finished His work here on earth and has commissioned ushumanityto represent Him here to see that His purpose and plan for the universe is actualized. So dont kill that God-deposited child in you.

    Introduction

This book is a touchstone of purpose for discovery and direction, and is conceived as a seed and birthed in a period of personal solitude -solitude not because of the absence of people, but solitude necessitated by divine purpose and pursuits.

During this time, I clearly heard a voice in my innermost being saying, When this is over, you will have a story to tell about what you are going through now. The voice was a call for direction and freedom from what looked like traps of uncertainty. It is only through emancipation from such things that one can understand Samson’s riddle- Out of the eater, something to eat; out of the strong something sweet. I wholly believe that the purpose of this message was not just for me, but also, for persons struggling to find their feet in a world bedevilled with so many challenges. To help them to build and believe that in what seems like an empty world, there are still platforms of operation and success for what God has sent them to accomplish here on earth.

It is wrong for people to think that because they work hard, live right, and pray often, that they have outgrown the challenges common to all men. No one ever outgrows challenges because there are challenges each of us must conquer daily. When locked up in those challenges, you need a tool with which to unlatch the prison door of challenges. This book therefore is one master key to help us, in such times, with an inner strength to build upwards, whilst building a solid platform for purposeful accomplishment in our lives, which is born out of experiencing difficult times.

This key comes with questions and answers on why we are here and goes on to provide great tools to help us discover our purpose. It empowers us on how we can deliver as messengers while here on earth. Regardless of religion, faith or culture, in every heart there is a drive and longing for success - to succeed in our fields of endeavour. Success goes beyond the houses we build, the cars we drive or the things we can see. While all these are good and we definitely need them for our comfort, they do not bring total internal satisfaction, neither do they stop the cravings of men for a deeper sense of satisfaction and fulfilment.

I am optimistic that by the time you read this book to the last chapter, you will breathe a sigh of relief that you have found a solid ladder with which you can begin a journey based on a divine program for you. If you are already on top of the ladder, I hope that this book and its message will help you to have that sense of greater things existing in your life because no one can boast that they have crossed their divine mark while they are still alive.

I firmly believe that so long as you are here on earth, there will always be one more thing to accomplish. I earnestly pray with belief that the impact of this book on you will not just end on the last page. Let it be a life-changing tool that will cement the connection between our soul and spirit to resonate the real us in God because in Him alone will our real self be known.

    About Don’t Kill This Child

By His grace, as I enjoy the pleasure of taking us through this tour, I am hopeful that as we dive into the deep, we will throw anchor and a multitude of great treasures far more valuable than any perishable thing on earth bestowed on us will be caught. I believe God will ignite in us the fire that will launch us into birthing our life’s purpose with abundant joy.

    Genesis Chapter One

We anchor our focus on the first chapter of the first book of the Old Testament - the Book of Genesis. As Bible readers know, each Chapter of the modern bible (that has several versions) has subdivisions called verses. Chapter one of Genesis has thirty-one Verses and they read:

    1. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

    2. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

    3. And God said, Let there be light, and there was light.

    4. God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness.

    5. God called the light day, and the darkness He called night. And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.

    6. And God said, Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.

    7. So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so.

    8. God called the vault sky and there was evening, and there was morning—the second day.

    9. And God said, Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear. And it was so.

    10. God called the dry ground land, and the gathered waters He called seas. And God saw that it was good.

    11. Then God said, Let the land produce vegetation: Seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds. And it was so.

    12. The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.

    13. And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day.

    14. And God said, "Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years,

    15. and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth". And it was so.

    16. God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars.

    17. God set them in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth,

    18. to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good.

    19. And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day.

    20. And God said, Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.

    21. So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teams and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

    22. God blessed them and said, Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.

    23. And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day.

    24. And God said, Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind. And it was so.

    25. God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.

    26. Then God said, Let us make mankind in Our image, in Our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.

    27. So God created humankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.

    28. God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.

    29. Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.

    30. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food". And it was so.

    31. God saw all that He had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning. (NIV)

    Chapter One

    THE CRY

A FIRST GLIMPSE AT the title of this book, Don’t Kill This Child, one’s thoughts might possibly run to the many innocent children aborted daily or to ancient Egypt in Exodus 1:22. In that scripture, we read the story of pain and of mothers wailing with no one to help. However, the God-fearing Egyptian midwives refused to obey Pharaoh’s order to kill upon birth, all male children of Hebrew parentage. Pharaoh’s soldiers on the other hand, as ordered by the king, went on a killing spree.

The Hebrew mothers could do nothing but watch while these men drowned their male children in the River Nile. From Genesis Chapter 22, you might perhaps recall that on Mount Moriah, when Isaac was tied up by his father, Abraham, and laid on the altar of sacrifice, God called with a voice so audible that Abraham could hear it echoing, Abraham ... Don’t Kill That Child! Possibly, you remember the plea of Reuben to his brothers not to kill Joseph but rather cast him into a pit. You might also recall the story in II King’s 3:16-27, at King Solomon’s palace, where King Solomon’s God-endowed wisdom was put to test when he had to take a decision on the maternity of a baby claimed by two women. We hear the voice of one woman saying, Kill the child and the other soft, loving, but deeply sorrowful voice saying, No! Let the child live. When he grows up, he will know his mother.

If none of the above is familiar, reflect on the wailing in Bethlehem and its districts in Matthew 2:16 as Herod decreed the killing of every male child two years and below. This of course, happened at a time when instant media broadcasting was non-existent, neither were there Wiki leaks to warn the nation of Herod’s plot. For a single target, the enemy murdered hundreds of children. Imagine the celebration of a child’s birthday with friends and families gathered, songs being sung, posies of roses hung, and cakes all set out on the table, and all of a sudden, the happy gathering turns into mourning because the child for whom the table is set is reported dead. What pain and grieve there was as the blood of innocent children flowed from every home in Bethlehem.

With these and many more examples from the Bible, as well as countless alarming and inexplicable occurrences in our world of today, I believe every good citizen of the world will agree with me that perpetuator’s of such criminal acts deserve life sentences with hard labour at the very least. Though the lives of the martyrs may have gone, their blood continues to cry out for justice.

In contrast, the cry of the child I hear daily is like none of those mentioned above and is surely not a cry for vengeance, but I hear that inconsolable voice loud and clear, the voice of a child crying to be let out.

On hearing the famous Christian preacher, Dr. Myles Munroe
