The Deed is Done
William Lester hung up the phone. The conversation had not gone as he had hoped. At sixty-five, Lester was part-owner of Amblin & Lester, the largest military contractor in the Southeastern United States and one of the largest in the entire country. He served as CEO with his partner, Joseph Amblin, having taken a back seat for the better part of the last decade. However, over the last few years, many of Amblin & Lester’s foreign buyers had turned to domestic partners, while Washington had shut down and forbidden the sale of weapons to other longtime clients.
