    I was born in Cambridge, Massachussetts. After living in Columbus, Ohio, for a few years, I moved to Richardson, TX, in 1978, when my father got a job teaching at UT-Dallas. I switched schools a couple times before settling back into the Plano schools and graduated from Plano Senior HS in 1990, Midwestern State (BA in History) in 1995, and UT Dallas (MA) in 2008. I am an aspiring writer, and my interests include movies (especially those from New Zealand), photography, Australian & New Zealand Wildlife, birds, spectator sports (I love baseball and attend Dallas area ball games), and I love to travel. 3 Worlds Journey is my first novel, and I am currently working on more. I love letting my imagination go wild. Most of my stories and characters are based on what I read and what I thought of when I was younger.

      Prologue

      She pulled out her phone, as she always did. She wanted to contact her friend.

      Meet me tonight at 8. Our usual place. You know where.

      She owned a T-Mobile. She loved those phones. The company also did a great business.

      As she texted her friend, she waited to hear back. She waited a few minutes. She finally decided that her friend must be busy. She usually was.

      Chapter I

      Suzy! Hi!

      Suzy Adamson was walking down the street. She turned to see her friend, Jana Wilkins.

      Oh, hi, Jana. Did you get my texts?

      Texts? What Texts?

      The ones I sent you the other day.

      Don’t think I got them. They must have gotten lost in transit.

      Oh, I’m sure they’ll turn up. Say, is your husband Dan still a carpenter?

      Sure is! You certainly have a good memory!

      The two ladies talked for a few more minutes before heading off. Jana told her about the previous text, and they agreed to meet later at their usual place-the local Spaghetti Warehouse. Jana suddenly felt reassured.

      Later that night, however, she decided to pull a test run. She pulled out her cell phone and pulled up the number she had as Suzy’s cell number.

      Hi, Suzy, she typed. How are you? She then pressed send.

      A few seconds later, her cell phone beeped. She picked it up and glanced at the response.

      I meant to tell you this the other day, the reply text said, But I’m not Suzy. Sorry. You have the wrong cell.

      Thank you for letting me know, Jana texted back in response.

      You are quite welcome, was the text response.

      Jana then dialed Suzy’s home number.

      Suzy! Hi! It’s Jana! Remember those texts I supposedly sent you? It turns out I sent them to the wrong cell phone! Do you think you could give me your correct cell number? Thanks!

      Suzy gave Jana the correct cell phone number. It turned off she was one digit off-that explained it. From now on she would be sending texts to the right cell phone.

      But she hadn’t stopped sending texts to the other person.

      Chapter II

      Jana climber into her car to go to work. Before she did, she pulled out her cell phone. She had a text message from an unknown number. It literally said, UNKNOWN.

      Pizza. You love pizza. That was what the text said.

      Jana shrugged it off. Almost everybody loved pizza. She texted Suzy-this time, she knew she had the right number.

      Our usual place, 8 o’clock?

      A few moments later, she got a reply.

      Sure thing. See you then.

      As Jana drove to work at the local university, she found herself thinking about the text. She frequently did get pizza at the Spaghetti Warehouse instead of spaghetti. How could this person have known this?

      Probably just a prank.

      It did bother her a little though. She tried not to let it. She had encountered worse.

      She arrived at the university. Dallas Southwestern University. She worked in the Student Services Building. She enjoyed her job-most of the time, anyway.

      As she arrived at her workplace, she looked around. She tried to figure out who might have sent her the texts.

      Joe!

      Joe Ford looked up from his desk. He had a reputation as a jokester.

      Did you happen to send me some texts over the last few days?

      No, why?

      Jana showed him the texts on her phone.

      Girl, I like jokes, but that’s sick. I don’t like jokes like that.

      Are you sure?

      Positive.

      I’ll trust you-for now.

      Jana went to her desk and turned on her computer. She checked her cell phone, just to be sure-no new texts. No new nothing, in fact.

      She felt assured it wasn’t Joe who had sent the texts. His jokes were funny, like sending a humorous email or text like A kangaroo goes to the psychiatrist and says, ‘I don’t know what’s wrong with me, doctor. I just haven’t been feeling jumpy lately.’ Or he’d send funny videos off YouTube or post a smiley face on desks. But he would never do anything malicious, threatening, or scary. He wasn’t that type of prankster.

      He was also one of the most valued workers in the office. He would often present ideas to make the students’ lives more pleasant or slogans for organizations. Jana’s job was to approve those ideas and blend them in with everyone else’s ideas and concepts.

      Jana?

      She looked up to see Joe standing over her.

      "Yes?

      If you are really getting bad texts, you can always talk to me about them. You can also go to the police.

      Thanks.

      My pleasure.

      They both returned to their jobs.

      Jana also thought up an occasional idea for the university. She tried to think of another one to help Joe along. Suddenly, she heard her cell beep. Her text tone.

      Oh no, she thought. What if it’s one of those harassing ones? She checked to make sure.

      50 cent corn dogs. All day today at Sonic.

      Another bothersome text?

      The question came from Joe.

      No, just an ad from Sonic. She showed it to him.

      That’s a relief, he said. Listen, I’ve got this great idea for a slogan for the International Student Association, and I thought I’d run it by you.

      Bring it on! I love your ideas!

      One University-one people. I also designed some logos on my computer that I’ll submit to you.

      I like the slogan and can’t wait to see the logos.

      Just then, a younger person walked in.

      Excuse me, he said. My name is Bert Alpha, and I’m a new student here. I was wondering where the gym was.

      I think I’ve seen you around before, Jana said.

      I’m from the area, Bert said. I went to high school at Eastside High School, so you’ve probably seen me about town.

      That’s probably it, said Jana. Anyway, the gym is on the other side of campus. Turn left at the front door.

      Thanks, said Bert as he left.

      He seemed nice, said Joe. We will need to introduce him to campus life as best we can.

      Amen to that, Jana said.

      Say, speaking of students, did you ever find out what happened with the student whose admission you nearly messed up-what was his name?

      The university didn’t tell me his name. They just told me I made some kind of ‘slip of tongue’ that almost didn’t get him into the school due to the fact that it made him look bad, but he did in fact get admitted.

      Good to hear, said Joe. I wonder who it was.

      Me too.

      They both got back to what they were doing. Jana balanced her thoughts between her job and Kelsea Ballerini, her favorite singer.

      After a while, Joe approached her.

      Almost lunch time, he said. Any plans?

      Student Union, she said. It’s discount day. Why?

      Just asking. Remember who my favorite comedian is?

      Other than yourself, Jeff Foxworthy.

      Good memory. I might go see him on Saturday. Did you want to go with me?

      I’ll see. I might say yes.

      Glad you didn’t say no.

      She did like Jeff Foxworthy too. She considered herself a redneck girl.

      Just then, her phone beeped.

      "It’s me again,
