About this audiobook

From USA Today and internationally bestselling author Leonard Goldberg comes The Daughter of Sherlock Holmes, a new thrilling tale of the great detective’s daughter and her companion Dr. John Watson, Jr. as they investigate a murder at the highest levels of British society.

1914. Joanna Blalock’s keen mind and incredible insight lead her to become a highly-skilled nurse, one of the few professions that allow her to use her finely-tuned brain. But when she and her ten-year-old son witness a man fall to his death, apparently by suicide, they are visited by the elderly Dr. John Watson and his charming, handsome son, Dr. John Watson Jr. Impressed by her forensic skills, they invite her to become the third member of their investigative team.

Caught up in a Holmesian mystery that spans from hidden treasure to the Second Afghan War of 1878-1880, Joanna and her companions must devise an ingenious plan to catch a murderer in the act while dodging familiar culprits, Scotland Yard, and members of the British aristocracy. Unbeknownst to her, Joanna harbors a mystery of her own. The product of a one-time assignation between the now dead Sherlock Holmes and Irene Adler, the only woman to ever outwit the famous detective, Joanna has unwittingly inherited her parents’ deductive genius.

What our readers think

Readers find this title to be a clever and riveting spin-off of their favorite detective, Sherlock Holmes. They enjoy the character development of Enola Holmes and appreciate her challenging mind. However, some find it implausible that she needs to explain basic medical facts to accomplished doctors and feel that the Watsons have been dumbed down. Overall, the book is recommended to Sherlockians who miss the adventures of Holmes and Watson.

What an epic story, one of the best spin off of my favorite detective.... Joanna is by far the most enjoyable character i have met in regards to Sherlock Holmes, which is saying much as i actually don't like the heartless idiot ^^'
Her mind challenges that of her father and probably exceeds him and am really happy about her character development regarding the emotional side (read above for clarification).
I really can't wait to start the second book (which is currently downloading as am loving the audiobook).
I highly recommend it to any sherlockian who misses the adventures of Holmes and Watson ^^

    Implausible...
Why does this woman, brilliant though she may be, need to explain basic medical facts to TWO accomplished doctors. Why does she know some things from Watson's Sherlock books but claim to never have seem others, though she has Sherlock's idetic memory. I know the Watson's are not as brilliant as Holmes but they've been extremely dumbed down in this book. I have read ALL the Enola Holmes books and found them clever and RIVETING.
    The daughter... Meh.
