About this audiobook
With her brother Danny missing after a mysterious plane crash, Annie is struggling to protect his hot electronics company from the sharks who think he's not coming back. But fanciful, ethical Annie—who usually runs a bizarre bric-a-brac shop knows Danny's alive, and she's determined to keep his company safe by putting his biggest investor at the helm.
When Oliver actually says yes to the marriage of convenience, Annie dreamily envisions a few platonic weeks of helping him become a sensitive New Age guy. Oliver has a different plan; his cold, gorgeous eyes have been watching Annie, and he sees his chance to seduce the beautiful schemer. Love is the wild card destined to teach these two strong-willed opposites a lesson: icy control might run the business world, but all hell is about to break loose in the passionate territory of the heart.

What our readers think
Readers find this title to be a quintessential Krentz at her best. The book features great characters, plot, humor, and dialogue. The author successfully transforms a geeky hero into a sexy, James Bond-like character without losing his original charm. The quirky heroine and the perfect couple dynamic add to the wonderful love story. The "marriage of convenience" theme is well-executed, going beyond the typical workings. Overall, readers find this story fantastic and will be eager to read more from this author.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5
Great characters, plot, humour and dialogue, easy listening, excellent despite being written so long ago - all the classic J A K signatures of gutsy heroine and tough, lonely (despite his demanding family) hero. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book ties in with The Waiting Game as my favorite Jayne Ann Krentz, with Wildest Hearts slightly ahead. It is quintessential Krentz at her best. First, she turns a geeky type hero with a geeky name (Oliver) and turns him into a sexy, goes for the broke chameleon and we the reader discover several chapters into the book that the guy is like James Bond. You have the quirky heroine (a wonderful Krentz trademark) and you have the perfect couple. She transforms her man into this great to-die-for guy without spoiling what made "our Oliver" so perfect from page one. Add in the usual assortment of crazy family members and you have a wonderful love story. The "marriage of convenience" theme is used here -- it's a common theme in romances -- but I absolutely love it when the basis for that concept goes beyond the typical workings and boy this book does. I always picture an Aubrey Hepburn-type heroine when I read Jayne Ann Krenz -- in my mind's eye they always have on the Breakfast At Tiffany's dress and Annie or I should say Oliver's Annie was no exception. Oliver didn't say much so Jayne used a lot of adjectives and thoughts for us to understand where Oliver was coming from and she is great at it. Some writers can't put off paragraph after paragraph of passive writing but Jayne can and does. With her book sometimes it is even better than a conversation between the characters. I loved it when Oliver would say things like well just "Annie." Yeah, her books at times are short on the conversation but that is what I like most about her books.
Oh yeah, after reading Wildest Hearts I dare anyone to walk into a flower shop and view Ferns as just Ferns! I discovered more about the plant after reading this book! But then, that too is common in her earlier writing. Oliver and Annie are my favorite Jayne Ann Krenz couples. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Fantastic story, will be reading more books from this author and the narrator make the story more interesting... love it
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Probably my favourite JAK story because of Oliver Rain. His journey from icy control freak to man in love is beautifully written. The story was engaging, Annie was a worthy rival and it has the JAK trademark humour.
This is my comfort food. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5She knows her brother's not dead - unfortunately, his company may fold if she doesn't do something quick. Annie Lyncroft's solution? Marriage. Oliver Rain is the richest, and the most dangerous, man in the Pacific Northwest. Her brother trusted him, but is she playing right into his hands?
Oliver and Annie are a perfect match - spotting the bad guys may not be too difficult, but it's entertaining just following along as Annie manages to completely disrupt Oliver's world by simply expecting the best of him. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5excellent read; hero was her most alpha character very aloof and controlled; loved it; great quirky characters; will read again
