About this audiobook

Combine an offbeat cast of characters with Murakami's idiosyncratic prose and the result is the remarkable story, Dance Dance Dance: high-class call girls billed to Mastercard, a psychic 13-year-old dropout has a passion for talking heads, and meet a hunky matinee idol, doomed to play dentists and teachers. Don’t forget the one-armed beach-combing poet, an uptight hotel clerk and one very bemused narrator caught in the web of advanced capitalist mayhem.

Haruki Murakami

Like every Murakami I have read, this book is bizarre, sarcastic and somewhat magical.
I was never sure what the point of the story was but the author keeps the reader hooked and wanting to know what is going to happen next.
Some of the characters are loveable, some relatable and some flat out annoying. Like life.
I found the whole underlying concept of the story very true and wise in its simplicity: you have to dance dance dance.

I like this story, it’s interesting and well written but I can’t get past how gross the description of Yuki is, she is 13 and a child, not an adult. Made my skin crawl.

    Everyone there cries for you

I loved loved this book being my first Haruki book I'm in awe and can't wait to read more of her works.

The author illustrates mastery of writing skills and verse knowledge from Tokyo and Hawaii.
Golly who plays chaperone to Yuki who she met at Dolphin hotel she had been left stranded by her mum Amē a reknown photographer. Yuki told him that she was used to that and in that she developed a close relationship with Golly .
Gotanda, Golly's high school classmate met up and she have slept with the same girl Kiki. Gotanda said he never slept with her alone but had threesomes with another girl. He is a dentist and an actor.
Golly collides with call girls and they remind him of Mei. He later falls in love with Yumiyoshi who worked in the Dolphin Hotel.

Haruki has a vast knowledge on capitalism , we get to see sexual violence and also consented adult threesome.
