Anna J. Stewart

USA Today and national bestselling author Anna J Stewart can't remember a time she didn't have a book in her hands or a story in her head. Early obsessions with Star Wars, Star Trek, and Wonder Woman set her on the path to creating sweet to sexy pulse-pounding romances for her independent heroines. Anna lives in Northern California where she deals with a serious Supernatural addiction and an overly affectionate cat named Snickers.

What our readers think

Readers find this title to have a good flow and appreciate the world building. The romance is a bit forced, but overall it is a wonderful book. Some readers have mentioned pronunciation issues by the narrator, but it doesn't take away from the engaging story. They are looking forward to the next two books in the series.

I don't usually leave a review, but I'll make an exception for this one.

While the author's writing style was fine, there was little else to commend this title. The story was confusing from start to finish. There was zero world-building and every event seemed rushed. This felt more like a first draft that the author needed to flesh out before sending it to the editor, or a pitch for a Netflix show.

The relationship between the two love-interests was basically a speed-run. Nothing was explained and I feel like I know nothing about the characters by the end.

The female character showed no appropriate reactions to the danger she found herself in. Instead, she tried too hard to be clever by using excessive pop cultural references.

I love isekai stories, but the trope is overdone at this point. There was nothing original about the plot.

The narrator was dreadful. It was fine when she used her normal voice, but she made the male character sound like a caveman, and her "Scottish" accent sounded foolish. I couldn't take it seriously.

I'd give this zero stars if I could. Don't read this, or listen to it.

I really liked the flow. The romance was a bit forced to achieve love too quickly. But a god guilty pleasure read

2 chapters and an awful narrator who really put me off listening.

Really good story for a novella. I appreciated the world building and the confusion the mc felt upon finding herself thrust into a strange world.

Terrific, well-written and engaging story. But the narrator has some pronunciation...quirks. Among them: plumage which pronounced by the narrator as "plummage" when it's "ploo-mage" as in a plume -- a feather. There were more. Great reading otherwise but I would take a listen and correct the erroneous pronunciations as they distract from the lovely story and the excellent voice acting.

It skips details that would have fleshed out the story a bit better.
