Special cases of this turn out to be the popularly used linear average method as also a newly proposed displaced ideal method. Two measures of penalty are suggested. Η σχολική ποδιά έχει μια μακρά ιστορία στην Ελλάδα, συνδεδεμένη με τις προσπάθειες οργάνωσης της εκπαιδευτικής κοινότητας και τον εκδημοκρατισμό της εκπαίδευσης. Από την περίοδο του Καποδίστρια, όταν η σχολική ενδυμασία καθιερώθηκε ως μέτρο για την εξισορρόπηση των κοινωνικών ανισοτήτων, έως το 1982 όταν καταργήθηκε, η ποδιά λειτουργούσε ως εργαλείο όχι μόνο πειθαρχίας αλλά και κοινωνικής ενότητας. Η ιστορική εξέλιξή της, η σημασία της ως σύμβολο ισότητας και οι διάφορες κοινωνιολογικές και εκπαιδευτικές προεκτάσεις που συνδέονται με τη χρήση της, αποτελούν θέματα προς ανάλυση στο παρόν κείμενο.

Let $H$ be a 3-uniform hypergraph. A tournament $T$ defined on $V(T)=V(H)$ is a realization of $H$ if the edges of $H$ are exactly the 3-element subsets of $V(T)$ that induce 3-cycles. We characterize the 3-uniform hypergraphs that admit realizations by using a suitable modular decomposition.

Given a 3-uniform hypergraph H, a subset M of V (H) is a module of H if for each e ∈ E(H) such that e ∩ M ≠ ∅ and e ∖ M ≠ ∅, there exists m ∈ M such that e ∩ M = {m} and for every n ∈ M , we have (e ∖ {m}) ∪ {n} ∈ E(H). Given a prime 3-uniform hypergraph, we study its prime, 3-uniform and induced subhypergraphs. Our main result is: given a prime 3-uniform hypergraph H, with V (H) ≥ 4, there exist v, w ∈ V (H) such that H − {v, w} is prime.

This study compares the flame speed of different textile materials employed in professional uniforms. Five different garments of aeronauts' uniforms were analyzed (totaling 200 specimens submitted to flammability tests). Plain weaves and twill weaves composed by 100% CO; 100% PES; 67% PES/33% CO; 50% PES/50% WO; and 55% PES/45%WO were analyzed in the warp and filling directions. The flame speed of each material was determined, and differences in the flame propagation of the fabrics were identified. The lowest flame speed occurred for the material 50% PES/50% WO plain weave and weft direction (0.742 ± 0.140 m/s). The highest flame speed was 3.698 ± 1.806 cm/s for the material 67%PES/33%CO, plain weave and filling direction. Future experiments for reducing the fabric flammability of the uniforms could be related to more closed fabric constructions; mixtures with synthetic fibers to add functionality; changing the direction of the fabric; and changing the weight and torsion of its constituent yarns.

Issues of Ge hut cluster nucleation and growth at low temperatures on the Ge/Si(001) wetting layer are discussed on the basis of explorations performed by high resolution STM and in-situ RHEED. Data of HRTEM investigations of Ge/Si heterostructures are presented with the focus on low-temperature formation of perfect multilayer films. Exploration of the photovoltaic effect in Si p--i--n-structures with Ge quantum dots allowed us to propose a new approach to designing of infrared detectors. First data on THz dynamical conductivity of Ge/Si(001) heterostructures in the temperature interval from 5 to 300 K and magnetic fields up to 6 T are reported.

A q-type Hölder condition on a function f is given in order to establish (uniform) convergence of the corresponding basic Fourier series S q [f ] to the function itself, on the set of points of the q-linear grid. Furthermore, by adding other conditions, one guarantees the (uniform) convergence of S q [f ] to f on and "outside" the set points of the q-linear grid.

For comparing random designs and Latin hypercube designs, this paper considers a wrap-around version of the L 2-discrepancy (WD). The theoretical expectation and variance of this discrepancy are derived for these two designs. The expectation and variance of Latin hypercube designs are significantly lower than those of the corresponding random designs. We also study construction of the uniform design under the WD and show that one-dimensional uniform design under this discrepancy can be any set of equidistant points. Recent breakthroughs in the rational development of multifunctional nanocarriers have highlightened the advantage of combining the complementary forces of several imaging modalities into one single nanotool fully dedicated to the biomedical field and diagnosis applications. A novel multimodal optical‐magnetic resonance imaging nanoprobe is introduced. Designed on the basis of a spinel zinc gallate structure doped with trivalent chromium and gadolinium, this nanocrystal bears the ability to serve as both a highly sensitive persistent luminescence nanoprobe for optical imaging, and a negative contrast agent for highly resolved magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Additional proof is given that surface coverage can be modified in order to obtain stealth nanoparticles highly suitable for real‐time in vivo application in mice, showing delayed reticulo‐endothelial uptake and longer circulation time after systemic injection.

We describe a simple randomized construction for generating pairs of hash functions h 1 , h 2 from a universe U to ranges V = [m] = {0, 1,. .. , m − 1} and W = [m] so that for every key set S ⊆ U with n = |S| ≤ m/(1 +) the (random) bipartite (multi)graph with node set V W and edge set {(h 1 (x), h 2 (x)) | x ∈ S} exhibits a structure that is essentially random. The construction combines d-wise independent classes for d a relatively small constant with the wellknown technique of random offsets. While keeping the space needed to store the description of h 1 and h 2 at O(n ζ), for ζ < 1 fixed arbitrarily, we obtain a much smaller (constant) evaluation time than previous constructions of this kind, which involved Siegel's high-performance hash classes. The main new technique is the combined analysis of the graph structure and the inner structure of the hash functions, as well as a new way of looking at the cycle structure of random (multi)graphs. The construction may be applied to improve on Pagh and Rodler's "cuckoo hashing" (2001), to obtain a simpler and faster alternative to a recent construction of Ostlin and Pagh (2002/03) for simulating uniform hashing on a key set S, and to the simulation of shared memory on distributed memory machines. We also describe a novel way of implementing (approximate) d-wise independent hashing without using polynomials.

Colors are radiant forces and energies that are manifested in various aspects of life, including social coverage of individuals, and depending on their darkness, brightness and inner characteristics can have a positive or negative impact on the individual and social life of citizens. People may not know for sure that the color of their clothes plays an important role in creating vitality, mental health, and how they communicate. Most of the color choices in Iran are limited to dark, repetitive, and lifeless colors in people's clothes, especially women in society and the offices. Today, women play a special role in the city and at work. If women are not aware of the importance of using colors correctly in their social clothing and uniforms, and also do not know enough about the effect of dark colors on the quality of life and work, their health and peace of mind will be in danger. Therefore, this lack of awareness not only has a significant impact on the quality of life of women but also on the quality of life of men and children and the perspective of the whole city. In the meantime, it is important to pay attention to people's uniforms as a manifestation of the connection between the employee and his profession in the community. Applying suitable colors in work clothes, because of their long-term daily use, is important as the simplest and most effective way to create vitality. This study has aimed to identify the factors affecting the wearing of dark clothes by the people in society and to raise awareness about the use of appropriate and various colors in the clothing of people, especially women. Hydrodynamic focusing in microfluidic channels is used to produce highly uniform, shaped polymer fibers at room temperature and under "green" conditions. Core streams of thiol−ene and thiol−yne prepolymer solutions were guided using a phase-matched sheath stream through microfluidic channels with grooved walls to determine shape. Size was dictated by the ratio of the flow rates of the core and sheath streams. Thiol click reactions were initiated using UV illumination to lock in predesigned cross-sectional shapes and sizes. This approach proved to be much more flexible than electrospinning in that highly uniform fibers can be produced from prepolymer solutions with varying compositions and viscosities with made-to-order sizes and shapes. Furthermore, a very simple manipulation of the composition provided reactive groups on the fiber surface for attachment of active ligands and biological components. A proof-of-principle experiment demonstrated that biotin attached to thiol groups on the fiber surface could specifically bind a fluorescent protein.

Societies have long associated the image of the military uniform with social power and heroic abilities. This iconic image has both psychological power for the wearer and for those who observed the uniformed person. In the 19th and 20th centuries, whites and blacks looked upon this image as a tool to implement change. Some sought personal improvement while others looked for social transformation. In both instances, blacks who chose to don the military uniform of the United States were seeking upward mobility from their present situation, while some whites wanting to maintain the country's segregation status quo wore the white robes of the Ku Klux Klan; thus believing in a different socially created image of power. In this article, we argue that the cultural and psychological power of the military uniform cannot be underestimated, and that this image, when worn by black military personnel, such as Private Henry Johnson, Sergeant Isaac Woodard, and Sergeant Medgar Evers, was intimidating to a number of whites. Additionally, we believe that black military personnel, like Johnson, Woodard and Evers, helped to bring widespread awareness of the vast social injustice occurring in this country to the greater public. Furthermore, we state that the image of, belief in, and donning of, the military uniform by blacks during the 19th and 20th centuries caused the end of America's oppressive segregation laws, not only in desegregating the military (1948), but also helping topple Plessy vs. Ferguson (1896), assisted in the verdict of Brown vs. The Board of

Given that the contrast of Zn doped Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles (Zn x Fe 3-x O 4) in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) depends on their intrinsic chemical and physical properties such as doping content or size, being able to finely control these characteristics is very important, but at the same time very challenging. In this work, we introduce a novel doping mechanism and present how various desired MRI contrast levels can be precisely achieved by synthesizing in a controlled and reproducible manner Zn x Fe 3-x O 4 nanoparticles exhibiting different Zn doping concentrations (Zn x Fe 3-x O 4 , x=0/0.1/0.2/0.3/0.4) and different dimensions (4 nm/7 nm/10 nm). FPGA densities have continued to follow Moore's law and can now support a complete multiprocessor system on programmable chip. The benefits of the FPGA include the ability to build a customized MPSoC system consisting of heterogeneous processing resources, interconnects and memory hierarchies that best match the requirements of each application. In this paper we outline a new approach that allows users to drive the generation of a complete hardware/software co-designed multiprocessor system on programmable chip from an unaltered standard high level programming model. We use OpenCL as our specification framework and show how key API's are extracted and used to automatically create a distributed shared memory multiprocessor system on chip architecture for Xilinx FPGA's. We show how OpenCL API's are easily translated to hthreads, a hardware-based microkernel operating system to provide pthreads compliant run time services within the MPSoPC architecture.

A new paradigm in natural resource management has moved towards more decentralized mechanisms to reverse the degradation. One of such mechanisms is a marketable permits system (MPS). Although the properties of MPS have been studied and identified to be effective in controlled laboratory experiments, little is known about how MPS works in the real field setup. To fill the gap, this paper seeks to evaluate the effectiveness and potentials of MPS in the real forest conservation by implementing a framed field experiment. Shaktikhore, Nepal has been chosen for the experimental site, since farmers' livelihood there depends on forests and they are able to report their valuation of forestry from economic and environmental points of view. This experiment elicits economic valuation of local farmers for each unit of forestland, derives aggregate demand and supply of the permits, and with a uniform price auction (UPA), MPS field experiments were carried out to see equilibrium prices and efficiencies of the market. The results suggest that MPS is effective with high efficiency of 80% in the real field. For this success, UPA institution is identified to be the key element because (i) farmers with elementary education could understand and follow the rules of trading and (ii) they are induced to reveal their valuations of forestland through bids to buy and offers to sell. To our knowledge, this study is the first that designs and employs UPA institution under trader settings, showing the successful performance of such a MPS scheme in the real field of developing nations. Overall, our research suggests that MPS could be the effective policy option for "real" practice of natural resources management even with less administrative expertise, limited education and fewer resources to implement.

We discuss in Section 1 the property of regularity at the boundary of separately holomorphic functions along families of discs and apply, in Section 2, to two situations. First, let W be a wedge of C n with C ω , generic edge E: a holomorphic function f on W has always a generalized (hyperfunction) boundary value bv(f) on E and this coincides with the collection of the boundary values along the discs which have C ω transversal intersection with E. Thus Section 1 can be applied and yields the uniform continuity at E of f when bv(f) is (separately) continuous. When W is only smooth an additional property, the temperateness of f at E characterizes the existence of boundary value bv(f) as a distribution on E. If bv(f) is continuous, this operation is consistent with taking limits along discs (Theorem 2.8). By Section 1, this yields again the uniform continuity at E of tempered holomorphic functions with continuous bv. This is the theorem by Rosay in [12] in whose original proof the method of "slicing" by discs is not used.

We compute the Onsager-Machlup functional for a stochastic evolution equation with additive noise, using L 2-type techniques. The regularity that has to be imposed to the drift coefficient is a trace type condition on its derivative. The expression of the divergence part of the functional does not depend on the stochastic convolution related to our evolution system.

Abstract: The interaction of Mn with Ge quantum dots (QD), which are bounded by {105} facets, and the strained Ge wetting layer (WL), terminated by a (001) surface, is investigated with scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). Mn is deposited on the Ge QD and WL surface in sub-monolayer concentrations, and subsequently annealed up to temperature of 400 C. Consistency of both estimators is proved, and comparisons have been made with Vasicek's estimator and its generalization proposed by Dudewicz and Van der Meulen (1987). In the modern workplace, appearance is extremely important for creating an excellent first impression and enhancing the reputation of both the individual and the company they work for. In this situation, the vest serves as an essential piece of clothing that not only offers functionality and comfort but also conveys the wearer's and their organization's professional identities. However, most vests fall short in terms of projecting an appropriate professional image, offering optimal functionality and aligning with the organization's identity. This article presents a case study on the identity of vests as official uniforms, specifically focusing on the workwear of facilitators at the National Science Center. The article aims to explore the significance of vests as a distinctive component of the facilitators' attire, analysing their impact on the professional image, functionality, and organizational identity. By utilizing a qualitative method such as questionnaire / surveys form, and experiment in producing a sample of a new uniform design for facilitators at the National Science Center, which is unisex and a vests design that will represent the identity of the National Science Center. The target group will be the facilitators, officer, and visitor. The research provides valuable insights into the role of vests in establishing a cohesive and recognizable uniform for the facilitators. The findings contribute to the broader understanding of uniform design and its influence on organizational representation and professionalism.

Naloga opisuje razvoj in realizacijo kolekcije moških in ženskih oblačil z vključevanjem reciklaže že obstoječih oblačil. V teoretičnem delu so raziskane ideje, ki skupaj tvorijo kreativno podlago omenjene kolekcije. Prvotna ideja, vzdušje, je nastala ob ogledu biografske kriminalne triler serije “Narcos” (2015) avtorja in producenta Chrisa Brancata. Raziskava se naslanja na novodobne vojaške uniforme, fenomen tetoviranja kot način izkazovanja pripadnosti in modni stil, popularen med ženskami v osemdesetih letih, t. i. “power dressing”. The report studies transformation of a Ge granular film deposited at room temperature on the Si(001) surface to the Ge/Si(001) heterostructure as a result of rapid heating and annealing at 600 ℃. As a result of the short-term annealing at 600 ℃ in conditions of a closed system, the Ge granular film transforms to the usual wetting layer and Ge clusters with multimodal size distribution and the Ge oval drops having the highest number density. After the long-term thermal treatment of the Ge film at the same temperature, Ge drops disappear; the large clusters increase their sizes at the expense of the smaller ones. The total density of Ge clusters on the surface drastically decreases. The wetting layer mixed c(4 × 2) + p(2 × 2) reconstruction transforms to the single c(4 × 2) one which is likely thermodynamically favoured. Pyramids or domes are not observed on the surface after any annealing.

Fiber-optic multi-band transmission (MBT) aims at exploiting the low-loss spectral windows of single-mode fibers (SMFs) for data transport, expanding by ∼ 11× the available bandwidth of C-band line systems and by ∼ 5× C+L-band line systems'. MBT offers a high potential for cost-efficient throughput upgrades of optical networks, even in absence of available darkfibers, as it utilizes more efficiently the existing infrastructures. This represents the main advantage compared to approaches such as multi-mode/-core fibers or spatial division multiplexing. Human visual sensitivity to a fairly broad class of dynamic stimuli can be modeled accurately using two temporal channels. Here, we analyze fMRI measurements of the temporal step response to spatially uniform stimuli to estimate these channels in human primary visual cortex (V1). In agreement with the psychophysical literature, the V1 fMRI temporal responses are modeled accurately as a mixture of two (transient and sustained) channels. We derive estimates of the relative contributions from these two channels at a range of eccentricities. We find that all portions of V1 contain a significant transient response. The central visual field representation includes a significant sustained response, but the amplitude of the sustained channel signal declines with eccentricity. The sustained signals may reflect the emphasis on pattern recognition and color in the central visual field; the dominant transient response in the visual periphery may reflect responses in the human visual attention system.

Besides the well-known sequence of surface reconstructions (2 × 1 → 2 × N → M × N patches) and hut-clusters faceted with {105} planes, the formation of isolated {105} planes, which faceted the edges of M × N patches, has been observed owing to the deposition of Ge on a rough Si/Si (001) surface. A model of the isolated {105} facet formation has been proposed based on the assumption that the mutual arrangement of the monoatomic steps on the initial Si surface promotes the wetting layer formation with the inhomogeneously distributed thickness that results in the appearance of M × N patches partially surrounded by deeper trenches than those observed in the usual Ge wetting layer grown on the smooth Si(001) surface. The Si(001) surface deoxidized by short annealing at T ~ 925°C in the ultrahigh vacuum molecuar beam epitaxy chamber has been in situ investigated using high-resolution scanning tunneling microscopy (STM)and redegreesected high-energy electron diffraction (RHEED. RHEED patterns corresponding to (2 × 1) and (4 × 4) structures were observed during sample treatment. The (4 × 4) reconstruction arose at T ≲ 600°C after annealing. The reconstruction was observed to be reversible: the (4 × 4) structure turned into the (2 × 1) one at T ≳ 600°C, the (4 × 4) structure appeared again at recurring cooling. The c(8 × 8) reconstruction was revealed by STM at room temperature on the same samples. A fraction of the surface area covered by the c(8 × 8) structure decreased, as the sample cooling rate was reduced. The (2 × 1) structure was observed on the surface free of the c (8 × 8) one.
