Therapeutic nutrition

The biochemic system of medicine, also known as the inorganic cell salt therapy, pioneered by Dr. Wilhelm Heinrich Schuessler, following the footsteps of Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, is the oldest form of nutraceutical therapy approved and recognized by the World Health Organization as one of the complementary therapies. The chapter presents the fundamental ideology and concepts that underlies the promising system of biochemic medicine as concisely, simply, and to-the-point as possible. The chapter begins with a brief introduction to biochemic system, nutrition science, and concepts of nutraceuticals, followed by a brief history and literature review. It covers biochemic system of medicine and its relevant concepts before closing the chapter with a conclusion.

Carrot is one of the nutritious and economical vegetable. It has high carotene with abundant vitamins, dietary fibre and minerals. To extend carrot's utilisation during offseason, carrot was oven-dried at 50 ºC for 4-5 hours in dark and evaluated for proximate value, vitamin content, functional property and its shelf-life. Values were analysed using SPSS version 16 at 0.05% level. Results indicated that moisture content was 87.02% in fresh carrot and 4.2% in dry carrot powder. The mean protein value of fresh carrot was 4.8gm/100gm whereas dried carrot had 3.7 gm/100gm protein on dry basis with significant difference at 0.05% level. Fibre content in fresh carrot was 8.2 which increased significantly on drying to 13.0 gm/100gm. Dried carrot powder contain less carbohydrate

Chronic renal failure disease is frequently associated with anaemia and the level of anaemia correlates with the stage of chronic kidney disease (CKD). A cross-sectional study was conducted in 44 chronic kidney disease patients in the department of medicine, M.L.B. Medical College, Jhansi during the period January to June, 2018. The study was evaluating the profile of anaemia and to find the association between the severity of anaemia and ckd-5 patients time period of taking on haemodialysis. Haemoglobin, blood urea, serum albumin, serum creatinine levels were examined using standard techniques. There was a significant difference in the haemoglobin of CKD patients taking 30 days regular interval 3 times values (P <0.05). All 44 patients (100%) were anaemic there was no significant correlation between the severity of anaemia and serum creatinine levels (P > 0.82) the most frequent anaemia in chronic kidney disease patients was a malnourished type of a moderate degree anaemic (7-10mg/dl). A significant correlation was not found between the severity of anomie and serum creatinine levels 30 day interval of CKD of patients on haemodialysis.
