This is a prospective submission to the Journal Scientific American or an affiliate, however I have decided to release it early for the interest of the public, since it is unlikely to be accepted. I still hope this paper is taken to be significant to science.

Tokom 2003. godine došlo se do zapanjujućeg otkrića u pećini Liang Bua na ostrvu Flores, u Indoneziji. Arheološki tim koji se sastojao od indonežanskih i australijskih arheologa otkrio je fosilne ostatke ljudi patuljastog rasta, nalik deci, koji su živeli od pre 95.000-50.000 godina. To je izazvalo brojne rasprave i nagađanja. Mnogi istraživači bili su skeptični da li fosilni ostaci ovih hominina predstavljaju novu vrstu ili se tu radi o posledicama nekog patološkog stanja. Međutim, gotovo očuvan skelet odrasle osobe Liang Bua 1 (LB1) jednim delom je opovrgnuo sumnje istraživače.

The shengren is the single most important concept in the Chinese tradition. Yet, ‘Science’ magazine “has never heard about it”, and your Asia correspondent in Beijing politely declines to publish a Chinese word, or to report about it. Clearly, Science magazine is practicing a “white vocabulary policy”. It means that foreign terminologies are excluded from publication. Especially if foreigners submit their research, they must use European terminologies and taxonomies in their ‘submissions’. How appropriate a word:  s u b m i s s i o n.

A new synthesis of the neural, behavioral, and computer sciences is on the horizon. The topic that promises to unite these disparate fields is computational autonomous mental development. The term "mental" refers to cognitive, behavioral and other mental skills that are exhibited by humans, higher animals and artificial systems. Computational autonomous mental development refers to the computational process by which a brain-like machine, natural or artificial, develops mental skills under the guidance of an intrinsic developmental program and through its own autonomous activities using its sensors and effectors to interact with its environment. The developmental program for an animal resides in the genes as a result of many generations of evolution; while that for a machine is initially programmed into the machine by humans but the environment changes the ways that the developmental program operates. The synthesis is inspired by new discoveries in neuroscience that highlight the exquisite plasticity of the brain with experience through infancy and adulthood, by new theories and computational modeling of human cognitive development, and by methodological and computational advances in AI and robotics that make it possible for machines to autonomously develop their own intelligence. Potentially, there are enormous benefits as a result of this synthesis: For behavioral and neural scientists, it promises a deeper, more precise and more systematic understanding about the ways our brain works through the computational study of its developmental processes. For the engineering and computer sciences, there is the vision of greatly enhanced capability for machines to interact with humans and to process information to a degree that requires kinds of machine intelligence other than those possible before.

В статье рассматриваются вопросы, связанные с индексированием научных журналов учреждений высшего образования Республики Беларусь в Российском индексе на­учного цитирования (РИНЦ). С опорой на результаты анализа данных РИНЦ сделаны выводы относительно основных причин предоставления информационно-аналитической системой неполной информации о журналах, названия (материалы) которых приводят­ся на белорусском языке. Обозначены рекомендации для специалистов издательств по преодолению существующих проблем индексирования.
The article deals w ith the issu es related to the ind exing of scien tific journals o f higher education institutions of the Republic of Belarus in the Russian Scientific Citation Index (RSCI). Based on the results of the analysis of RSCI data, conclusions were drawn regarding the main reasons for providing the inform ation and analytical system w ith incom plete inform ation about the journals which nam es (m aterials) are given in the Belarusian language. The recommendations for representatives of publishing houses on overcoming of existing problems of indexing are designated.

Cosmic rays are particles (mostly protons) accelerated to relativistic speeds. Despite wide agreement that supernova remnants (SNRs) are the sources of galactic cosmic rays, unequivocal evidence for the acceleration of protons in these objects is still lacking. When accelerated protons encounter interstellar material, they produce neutral pions, which in turn decay into gamma rays. This offers a compelling way to detect the acceleration sites of protons.

A tale of two plots. One way to compare electrical energy storage devices is to use Ragone plots (10), which show both power density (speed of charge and discharge) and energy density (storage capacity). These plots for the same electrochemical capacitors are on a gravimetric (per weight) basis in (A) and on a volumetric basis in (B). The plots show that excellent properties of carbon materials will not translate to medium-and large-scale devices if thin-fi lm and/or low-density electrodes are used (10).
