s u m m a r y Background: Continuing education (CE) is increasingly critical for nurses to keep abreast of rapid changes in patient care due to advancements in knowledge and technology. Objective: The objective of this study was to explore Chinese nurses' perceptions on continuing education, how best CE practices meet their learning needs, and the motivation and barriers nurses face in completing CE. Methods: A cross-sectional study of 2727 hospital-employed Chinese nurses from ten general hospitals was conducted from September to October 2010. Nurses' perceptions on CE, as well as motivational and preventive factors in CE were assessed. Results: The majority of nurses (97.3%) attended CE activities in the last twelve months. More than 92.2% of the nurses were familiar with the value of CE. Nurses expected CE activities to take place within a five-day period and to consist of 2 h per activity. The major factors that motivate nurses to participate in CE are the desire to gain and update their knowledge of the newest nursing development and procedures, to improve their practical skills and comprehensive qualities, to maintain professional status and to receive an academic degree. Factors that hindered nurses' participation in CE included time constraints, work commitments, a lack of opportunity, cost of the courses and previous negative experiences with CE programs. Conclusion: Chinese nurses considered CE an extremely important measure to further develop their professional competency. Nurses' actual expectations for CE and the motivation and barriers for participation in CE from nurses' individual, family and hospital perspective must be taken into the account in order to make CE programs more effective.

Background: Academic staff shortages exist in training institutions within the developed and developing world. Mentoring is thought to enhance teachers' competencies, strengthen social abilities, and promote learning and career development; however, not much is known about mentoring in developing countries and its impact on nursing academia. The aim of this literature review was to explore existing evidence on the impact of mentoring on nurse and midwifery teaching competencies and students' learning and social abilities, and the prerequisites for establishing an effective mentoring program. Methodology: A comprehensive literature search was performed using HINARI, PubMed, SAGE, WILEY, Science direct, Google scholar, and Google search. Hand searching was too done through bibliographies to identify related articles. Results were screened to select studies that reported benefits and challenges of mentoring to nurse and midwifery educators, student nurses and midwives, and successful mentoring programs. After screening, a total of 15 articles met the inclusion criteria and were reviewed and analysed. Results: Senior faculty mentoring junior faculty provides or enhances accomplishments of some nurse educator core competencies, provides opportunities to develop teaching knowledge base, and promotes exposure to required resources for growth in the teaching career. It further stimulates personal and social growth. Mentored student nurses and midwives experience reduced anxiety, and mentoring provides a supportive learning environment and increased self-awareness of one's own values and beliefs, confidence, maturity and responsibility. Lack of time, dual responsibility, heavy workload, personality, and attitude may negatively impact the mentoring process. An effective mentoring program requires a relevant mentoring model and clear definitions of its context, structure, and goals. Conclusion: Mentoring has the potential to strengthen teaching competencies as well as students' learning and professional growth.

Background and Objectives: COVID-19 is a communicable disease which has tremendous outburst globally. It can be easily transmittable from one person to another. Government of India also instructed to all educational department to lock down. Students are also worried about their studies and further educational activities due to this pandemic. Most of the research showed that, students have increased stress and anxiety level in similar epidemics. The primary aim of this study was to assess the anxiety level of students during this COVID-19 outbreak. Methods: A non-experimental-survey design was used for this research study. For data collection, online tool was prepared which consist of two part, first part deals with demographic data and second part is having 5 point Likert scale with 12 items. Non probability snowball sampling technique was used to find out the potential participant. Tool was shared to potential participants via online social media applications. After screening, total 1530 samples were selected for this study. Results: Findings show that 76.44% students were having severe anxiety and 23.66% students were having moderate anxiety. Education, online classes provided by online institution and duration of online classes were associated with anxiety. Interpretation and Conclusion: Health education for reducing the mental stress and promoting preventive behavior may require various strategy. If a person feels that psychological pressure at its peak level, then psychological assistance can be taken to prevent from further complications. At the end, investigators concluding that mental health is also as important as physical health.

Aim and Objectives: The objective of this study was to ascertain the knowledge, beliefs and teaching strategies of evidence based practice among Nurse Educators/Lecturers in nursing institutions in Edo State, Nigeria.

Method/Study design: The study was a descriptive survey. The total population of Nurse Educators/Lecturers in nursing institutions in Benin City, Edo State Southern Nigeria was used for study. They are fifty eight (58) in number. Questionnaires consisting of 40 structured items with open ended questions were used.  A test retest co-efficient reliability was used to collate the scores giving a score of 0.85. The validity was ascertained by experts. The Questionnaires was administered to the entire population. Only fifty (50) questionnaires were retrieved.                                                                                                                             

Result: This study showed that majority of respondents has knowledge of evidence based practice. Further investigation shows that out of 88% of respondents who claimed to have knowledge about EBP had knowledge deficit in the following areas as reflected in this study, 68% of the respondents had no knowledge about the steps of EBP, 60% had no knowledge about the of teaching EBP, 52% are ignorant of PICO (Patient/Problem, Intervention, Comparism and Outcome) and 64% them are not comfortable in Teaching EBP, while 64% of them are not comfortable in stating the level of evidence. This study also revealed that there is a significant association between nurse Educators/lecturers beliefs, attitude and EBP in the study area. Lastly,  result on the knowledge of teaching strategies  of  the Nurse  Educators/Lecturers to the teaching of EBP  showed  that  there is evidence base practice knowledge deficient among the Nurse  Educators/Lecturers in the study area.

Conclusion: This study indicated that the Nurse Tutors/Lecturers do not have significant knowledge in EBP but believe in its usefulness if taught in school.

Covid 19 disease is continuously and rapidly circulating, causing heavy damage on public health. While numerous research activities are being carried out throughout the world on the treatment and preventive aspects of this threatening infection. This study attempted to assess the changing attitude of the nursing students during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. An online survey was conducted using a semi-structured questionnaire using a non-probability snowball sampling technique. A total of 98 responses were received. The results of the study found varied attitude of the students in different areas of assessment the findings may help policymakers identify the target populations and create awareness in the needed areas to enhance a more favourable attitude of the students.
