Manufacturers are choosing direct marketing channels over conventional marketing channels to keep their distribution costs low. Network marketing or Multilevel marketing(MLM) is a technique by which the companies recruit and use part-time representatives to sell their products on commission basis. Lot of debate exists as to whether a MLM is really a cheaper option and in reality gives the returns to the channel members as promised. In the present study an attempt has been made to mathematically explain the behavior of networks and to predict the probability of networks' success at various levels

Ⅲ This article offers an ethnographic investigation of contemporary capitalist discourses about entrepreneurship by exploring the expanse of the direct sales industry into Thailand. Direct selling is a century-old merchandising approach that developed in the United States as an 'alternative' form of capitalism. Since the 1980s, the direct sales approach of Amway, Avon, and other firms has become increasingly globalized and has achieved some success in Thailand. This article demonstrates the implication of local meanings and social hierarchies for the translation of entrepreneurial rhetoric into Thai contexts through the case studies of two direct sales distributors in Bangkok. This ethnographic exploration of the production and reception of discourses about entrepreneurial self-help offers a cardinal illustration of the cultural processes of post-Fordist capitalism.

Gracing the cover of a 1995 Avon catalogue from Thailand is the picture of an Asian woman swinging an Avon shopping bag stamped in English: "Avon/ New York, London, Paris, Tokyo, Bangkok." Avon is one instance of "direct sales," a hundred-year old merchandising approach that is being revitalized as its products, selling style, and doctrine spread around the world.' In this article, I offer a brief illustration of the permutations of direct sales discourse in Thailand and a demonstration of the way such localization centrally involves social identities.
