Biblioteche oggi -Aprile 2002 D ietro la spinta dei continui cambiamenti, dello sviluppo tecnologico e delle crescenti esigenze degli utenti anche il prestito interbibliotecario è "un lavoro in corso" continuo, soggetto a modifiche, trasformazioni, aggiustamenti. L'avvento di Internet anche nel mondo delle biblioteche ha portato a cambiamenti profondi e radicali che significano adeguamento degli strumenti di lavoro, aggiornamento del personale, maggiore assistenza agli utenti. La visibilità dei cataloghi online (OPAC, Open Access Catalogue), la possibilità di reperire in linea articoli a testo pieno e banche dati, quindi un diverso modo di accedere alle informazioni, hanno fatto emergere il problema della gestione delle informazioni e della riorganizzazione dei servizi offerti al pubblico. D'altra parte le biblioteche, dietro la pressione di costi crescenti e di un budget limitato, hanno dovuto cambiare anche il modo di acquisire il materiale librario, definendo una nuova politica degli acquisti. La strada auspicata è quella della condivisione delle risorse, della razionalizzazione e del coordinamento degli acquisti tra biblioteche diverse appartenenti a unico Sistema bibliotecario, ma anche a un consorzio di biblioteche partecipanti a progetti specifici. Internet è una finestra aperta sul mondo dell'informazione che rende visibile il patrimonio librario delle biblioteche e suscita il bisogno di accedervi. D'altro canto le biblioteche non possono permettersi di acquistare tutto quello che prima o poi un determinato utente potrebbe chiedere (just in case), ma si devono preoccupare di reperire quello di cui l'utente ha bisogno, unicamente quando ne fa richiesta (just in time). Quindi il passaggio dall'accesso all'informazione al bisogno di accedere direttamente alla risorsa è breve. Le biblioteche si devono organizzare per tempo per fornire all'utente un servizio completo e soddisfacente, istruendo i bibliotecari alle procedure che consentono di localizzare e reperire il documento vero e proprio o una sua riproduzione. In questo contesto il servizio di prestito interbibliotecario ha assunto una rilevanza primaria perché consente il primo livello di cooperazione tra biblioteche con il reciproco scambio di documenti.

four colleagues from three institutions shared a panel presentation entitled “EZproxy for
Electronic Resource Librarians.” Monica Moore and Lauren Ajamie from the University

ILLiad is an interlibrary loan borrowing system designed and implemented in the University Libraries at Virginia Tech. ILLiad models the ILL borrowing process so as to track the status of an ILL request as it is processed, either by the staff or by software. This process approach to automating interlibrary loan is leading to fundamental improvements in ILL management and service. The process approach allows continued expansion and modification of the system, including the addition of electronic delivery of articles. The process approach results in substantial improvements in customer service by allowing customers to intervene directly in the borrowing process without staff assistance.

We have implemented a successful in-house outsourcing program between University of Oregon Library departments. Collaboration between interlibrary loan staff and subject specialists appropriates ILLiad email routing capabilities to enable subject specialists to join the workflow in processing difficult ILL requests. The goals of the program are to fill more requests, fill requests more quickly, give subject specialists the opportunity to learn more about their faculty members’ research needs, and to create a stepping stone to a purchase-on-demand program.

1. Εισαγωγή Οι ακαδημαϊκές βιβλιοθήκες τόσο στην Ελλάδα όσο και στο εξωτερικό αντιμετωπίζουν εδώ και χρόνια προβλήματα στην ανάπτυξη των συλλογών τους, ιδιαίτερα των περιοδικών εκδόσεων. Τα προβλήματα αυτά σχετίζονται κυρίως με περιορισμούς σε φυσικό χώρο και σε προϋπολογισμό. Ιδιαίτερα οι περικοπές των προϋπολογισμών στην Ελλάδα στα μέσα της δεκαετίας του '80 είχαν οδηγήσει ορισμένες βιβλιοθήκες σε δυσχερή θέση ως προς την αποστολή που καλούνται να εκτελέσουν, τη στήριξη δηλαδή του εκπαιδευτικού, διδακτικού και ερευνητικού έργου που επιτελείται στην ακαδημαϊκή κοινότητα. Εκείνη τη χρονική περίοδο έκαναν την εμφάνισή τους οι υπηρεσίες Διαδανεισμού, οι οποίες αποτελούσαν ικανοποιητική λύση στο πρόβλημα κάλυψης των ελλιπών συλλογών που αντιμετώπιζαν οι βιβλιοθήκες. Μερικά χρόνια αργότερα, η εμφάνιση και η ραγδαία αύξηση του αριθμού των ηλεκτρονικών περιοδικών, στα οποία τα ακαδημαϊκά ιδρύματα μέσω συνεργατικών σχημάτων και κοινοπραξιών απέκτησαν πρόσβαση, έδωσαν ακόμα μία λύση στο πρόβλημα αυτό. Μετά περίπου μία δεκαετία και πλέον συνύπαρξης και συνεργασίας των δύο αυτών υπηρεσιών στις Ακαδημαϊκές Βιβλιοθήκες, πολλοί έχουν αρχίσει να αναφέρονται στην πιθανότητα επίδρασης των ηλεκτρονικών περιοδικών στις υπηρεσίες Διαδανεισμού. Με αυτήν την έρευνα θα προσπαθήσουμε να διαπιστώσουμε αν όντως μπορεί να παρατηρηθεί αυτή η επίδραση στη Βιβλιοθήκη & Υπηρεσία Πληροφόρησης του Πανεπιστημίου Πατρών. Είναι απαραίτητο, στην αρχή της εργασίας να γίνει μια διευκρίνιση όσον αφορά τον όρο «Διαδανεισμός». Σύμφωνα με τον «Interlibrary Loan Code for the United States» της ALA πρόκειται για μια διαδικασία κατά την οποία μια βιβλιοθήκη ζητά υλικό από ή προμηθεύει υλικό σε μια άλλη βιβλιοθήκη, ενώ σε σχετική ιστοσελίδα της IFLA αναφέρονται τα εξής: " Interlending is the process whereby one library obtains from another specified library material requested by its users and not available from its own stock. U radu je prikazana mrežna aplikacija za međuknjižničnu posudbu SEND 2.0. Razvijen u Knjižnici Instituta Ruđer Bošković, izrađen je na mrežnim tehnologijama otvorenog koda. Besplatno je dostupan hrvatskim knjižnicama iz sustava znanosti i visokog obrazovanja i njihovim korisnicima. Autentikacija i autorizacija korisnika je regulirana putem AAI@EduHr korisničkog računa, a za knjižnice izvan sustava koje se žele priključiti omogućena je posebna registracija.

BACKGROUND AND INTRODUCTION The charge of the STARS International Interlibrary Loan Committee is to evaluate trends in international interlibrary loan (ILL) and resource sharing, to develop materials and resources for international ILL practitioners, and to promote international ILL resource sharing efforts. The Committee recognized the need for information about international ILL activities as the first step towards fulfilling this charge. In 2007, the International Interlibrary Loan Committee conducted a survey of U.S. libraries regarding their international ILL activities in order to gather information about the current environment and identify strategies for improving international ILL. The survey results revealed a number of real and perceived barriers to participation in international ILL. The Committee prepared an Executive Summary of the 2007 survey, which is posted on the STARS website. i An analysis of the survey results was also published in the Reference and User Services Quarterly. ii Both documents were intended to widely distribute the information gathered throughout the U.S. ILL community. In 2011, the STARS International Interlibrary Loan Committee wanted to assess international ILL from a more international perspective. A survey was created in SurveyMonkey, an online survey tool, and distributed to both U.S. and non-U.S. libraries via various electronic discussion lists and direct contacts with international libraries. 632 respondents began the survey, while 404 (63.9%) fully completed the survey. Only the first question requesting acknowledgement of consent and voluntary participation was required, so the number of respondents varies from question to question.
