Blindness has been regarded as one of the worst and incurable types of disabilities among humans across the globe as it hinders mobility of the impaired victims. This calls for the need to adopt new technologies to ease mobility problems among visually impaired victims. It was estimated in the year 2009 that there exists 160 million blind and partially visually impaired people worldwide. This paper focuses on an embedded system adaptive technology to reduce navigation challenges being encountered among visually impaired people using sensorial and communication IT functionalities with an affordable cost as an efficient navigation tool. In this research, an ultrasonic sensor, microcontroller, buzzer, electrolytic capacitor, oscillator, and other hardware components were used to detect obstacles thereby sending vibration notification warning sound to the blind and keep them from hitting or getting to the point of obstructions / accident lying ahead.

Over the years, several security measures have been employed to combat the menace of insecurity of lives and property. This is done by preventing unauthorized entrance into buildings through entrance doors using conventional and electronic locks, discrete access code, and biometric methods such as the finger prints, thumb prints, the iris and facial recognition. In this paper, a prototyped door security system is designed to allow a privileged user to access a secure keyless door where valid smart card authentication guarantees an entry. The model consists of hardware module and software which provides a functionality to allow the door to be controlled through the authentication of smart card by the microcontroller unit.

To implement machine learning algorithms and other
useful algorithms in industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), new
computing approaches are needed to prevent costs associated
with having to install state of the art edge analytic devices. A
suitable approach may include collaborative edge computing
using available, resource-constrained IoT edge analytic
hardware. In this paper, collaborative computing method is used
to construct a popular and very useful waveform for IoT
analytics, the Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM). GMM
parameters are learned in the cloud, but the GMMs are
constructed at the IIoT edge layer. GMMs are constructed using
C28x, a ubiquitous, low-cost, embedded digital signal processor
(DSP) that is widely available in many pre-existing IIoT
infrastructures and in many edge analytic devices. Several
GMMs including 2-GMM and 3-GMMs are constructed using the
C28x DSP and Embedded C to show that GMM designs could be
achieved in form of an osmotic microservice from the IIoT edge
to the IIoT fog layer. Designed GMMs are evaluated using their
differential and zero-crossings and are found to satisfy important
waveform design criteria. At the fog layer, constructed GMMs
are then applied for novelty detection, an IIoT cybersecurity and
fault-monitoring application and are found to be able to detect
anomalies in IIoT machine data using Hampel identifier, 3-Sigma
rule, and the Boxplot rule. The osmotic collaborative computing
method advocated in this paper will be crucial in ensuring the
possibility of shifting many complex applications such as novelty
detection and other machine learning based cybersecurity
applications to edges of large scale IoT networks using low-cost
widely available DSPs.

This effort presents a developed attendance register module for a smart academic institution. A convenient test on four courses was carried out on the register module for courses A, B, C, and D for five lecture days. A total of twenty students were involved in the test. This module is a careful improvement of the previous SAMSYS module. Manual authentication of attendance of log books have become an arduous task and are also time consuming. The academic attendance policy has continually insisted on the 70/30 % benchmark which has also generated a lot of questions at various quarters. This improvement provides for instant print out of attendance after class lectures and after examination periods. In the design, the PIC18F462 microcontroller has been used to achieve adequate results. Also, the PIC16F88 was used for the keyboard decoder to convert scan codes to ASCII character for the microcontroller. Adequate attendance security measures have also been put in place for effective attendance management. The design presented here showed better performance over the previous design.

Sistem ini dilengkapi dengan sensor optocoupler ITR 9606 sebagai sensor untuk
mendeteksi kecepatan atau rpm dari motor DC. Kontrol motor DC, data kecepatan atau rpm, dan data loger dapat di monitoring melalui smartphone dengan cara pengiriman data melalui bluetooth HC-05.

The lack in the music market of audio plugins multi-processor solutions that are customizable and accessible affect instrumentalists when they need to add or adapt resources, forcing them to attempt to replace or incorporate new equipment. The project Pedal Pi is an open-source software solution and embedded hardware that aims to fulfill the needs of the above points for instrumentalists beginners. It is presented in this article the project, its software architecture, a cost analysis, the development schedule of work and the results.



Resumo. A carência no mercado musical de soluções de multi-processadores de plugins de áudio acessíveis e customizáveis afeta instrumentistas quando necessitam agregar ou adaptar recursos, forçando-os a realizar a substituição ou incorporar novos equipamentos. O projeto Pedal Pi é uma solução de software open-source e hardware embarcado que visa atender os pontos supracitados para instrumentistas iniciantes. É apresentado neste artigo o projeto, sua arquitetura de software, uma análise de custo, o desenvolvimento do trabalho e os resultados obtidos.
